i see lots of people from canada in this messageboard... Does everybody love aphex (autechre, squarepusher, plaid...) over there? Is Canada some kind of IDM paradise?? by the way I am now listening to "feed me weird things" ... great I just bought it today. |

Put it this way... if I didn't have the internet, I wouldn't even have HEARD of Aphex, let alone become a huge fan. I'm the ONLY person for about 70,000 square miles who knows who Tom Jenkinson is. IDM paradise my ass! |

idm paradise i wish! i found out about aphex twin and other "idm" artists through only the internet.. i have only met two people who have even heard of aphex twin, and neither of them listen to him! but yes, i have noticed the huge number of canadians on this msg board too.. weird damn canadians crowding up the msg board! they should all go back to where they came from! |

I heard Come to Daddy on Muchmusic, and thought this Aphex Twin guy was a freak... move ahead a few years, and a pal of mine sends me Heliosphan, and I'm hooked... since then, I've gone back and I totally think Come to Daddy is awesome!!!! (listening to the EP now)... but yeah, I know of a few people here you like this type of music, but not many... |

Its not the cold, realy. Its the fact that there is nothing to do in canada. Altho I think that has something to do with the fact that it is so cold up here. Idmers from Canada Cell Venetian Snares Bit_Meddler Richard D James lived out here a bit, didn't he? Boards of Canada is not canadian, but its related. Canada = IDM Paradise!!! Altho if you were to ask just about anyone on the street if they liked Aphex Twin or Autechre they would point at you and laugh and then call you names and ask what IDM meant. |

Lotsa IDM fans in the underground circles here. Almost every major IDM artist has visited Vancouver alone over the years. Everyone from Aphex Twin to Autechre, Plaid......etc...etc.... Vancouver has a huge rave scene... |

Ahem!, add another canadian to the list. like most of you I'm the only one in like 100 square clicks that can even pronounce "autechre." I've never been to a live show by any IDM artist and the the only way I learn about them is through the internet, and a cool show on cbc radio called "brave new waves" cheers |
