I live in Santa Cruz

Oddly enough, there aren't as many hippies here either... I
think they all found computers and were like "Holy crap...
fuck living by the land" which is also why you don't see
many Amish

The ideals of the sixties became a commodity in the
nineties, and the only thing left are a bunch of overly
depressed and self indulgent potheads and G-addicts who only
know how to talk about what happened the last time they
smoked DMT and can only pay attention to psy-trance while
they diddle with all the sores they have from all their
std's.

I know way too many hippies, and I hate them all because
they are all self indulgent little vegans who don't
understand anything about what being a hippy used to be.

what happened? "the man" saw the beginnings of his demise
and acted to head it off through pop culture and the media.

The 1960s were mostly non-hippie, and a lot of them either
died, became insane, 'sold out' (ie they were barely
concealing their price tags to begin with) or are still
fighting 'the good fight'.

good book on some of the original hippies

The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test

even before there was a term "hippie" they were exploring
their minds with drugs, painting schoolbuses, etc.

That is a good book - shame the author turned into a
Republican Bush voter.

always occuring.
