lately, music only seems depressing when it's tied into a
depressing part of my life.

so for the most part, barely anything i listen to is
depressing, it's just music.

born into trouble as the sparks fly upward by the silver mt.
zion memorial orchestra and tra-la-la band is the one and

that and from a basement on the hill by elliott smith.

He means the legendary musician Wesley Willis. I own "Rock

"I Licked Batman's Ass" by Wesley Willis. Poor audio quality on the
live recording.

Whoops, I meant to say 'I Whooped Batman's Ass', which is
the proper song title. I got it confused when 'Lick a
Bulldog's Nasty Asshole'

'Depressing' music is uplifting when you are depressed but
depressing when you are happy.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor in general...

Noir Désir - Nous n'avons fait que fuir (even though you
probably have to speak french to get it ' _' it's one of the
few songs where the lyrics are more important than the
music)

and Jandek is fucking scary. sounds totally wrong. it's
like, um... it's halloween, you walk into your house and
there's a cadaver on the floor - but you can't tell whether
it's a fake one put here for a joke, or a real one. in any
case it's sick.

The Microphones, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Pinback all have
are more guitar music with singers. Good songwriting though.
Pinback is kind of lame, but it works for depressing music.

I google mp3 searched some junk for ya by those dudes:

some Microphones

a Pinback track at the bottom of the list

Couldn't find anything by Neutral Milk Hotel, but I strongly
recommend them still.
