to the 5 boroughs was a let down. i don't know about the
lyrics, but the production is very unintresting. they
should've taken the fresh, diverse sound of hello nasty and
progressed it further. the new album is huge step backwards.

get their last one...i think it's great, and it's back to
oldschool!!

offline optimus prime on 2004-11-12 19:53 [#01393438]
Points: 6447 Status: Lurker

to the 5 is a lot more mature, which makes sense since
they're all in their forties now. they have no reason to
push the boundaries anymore.

well, 'to the 5 boroughs' is pretty much what hip hop is all
about..

oh yes, if you thought i was slagging it then you read me
wrong. i'm defending it from people who think it sucks
because it doesn't sound off-the-wall. it IS what hip hop is
all about and that's why i love it.

On first listen I really didn't enjoy it, apart from Pauls
Boutique the Beastie Boys have never surprised me. Hello
Nasty was great because they did what they do. Hearing the
singles I've enjoyed this album more.
