please tell me how Bush has played a part in this "up swing"
low swing, and the big bust of the dot.com boom.

"up swing" low swing - don't know what this is
supposed to mean.

big bust of the dot.com boom - he did inherit this,
but it wasn't clinton's fault either. it was just the
natural order of the stock market. when it keeps getting
bigger and bigger, it eventually has to deflate or explode.

on the other hand, bush's policies have had a tremendous
effect on the economy. it's gotten much better for the rich
and large corporations which are de-regulated and outsourced
and on corporate welfare, while everyone else has had
significant tax burdens and a terrible job market.

i didn't say anything about small businesses because i
wasn't aware of how he has changed them. however, i would
definitely conclude that overall he has greatly worsened the
economy. how about the deficit? it's gotten much, much
worse.

bush played no role in the dot com boom/bust that i know of.
he inherited the economy just as it was deflating, then
9/11 knocked the wind completely out of it.

then he proceeded to cut taxes, and vastly increase
government spending. this has used up our budget surplus,
and send us into a huge deficit. the only section of the
job market that has significantly increased is government
jobs. bush created the rather large government bureau of
homeland security. all of those people recieve a paycheck
from the governement. the government recieves it's money
from our taxes. bush has also increased military spending
to levels above where they were before clinton reduced
them.

this has shifted money out of the social security stockpile,
education, and funding for the arts, and also forced the
gov't to borrow from the national reserve. creating the
deficit that we see today.

the reason the deficit is important is that once we run a
large enough deficit for long enough, the country that we
owe money and goods will decide that we no longer are
producing enough to back our currency. at this point, the
dollar will begin to sell on international markets for less
than it is actually worth because people will no longer want
the dollar. that means, america will need to spend more to
buy the same amount of goods, further devaluing the dollar.
inflation will skyrocket overnight, the dollar will become
worthless, and goods in america will become too expensive
for anyone to afford.

look to argentina as a good example of what is going to
happen to us.

Bush On Jobs

Colmar, PA: Sept. 9, 2004

Bush: Our country has now seen 12 straight months of job
gains. Over the past year, we've added 1.7 million jobs.
That is more than Germany, Japan, Great Britain, Canada and
France combined. (Applause.) Unemployment is down to 5.4
percent. That is nearly a full point below the rate in the
summer of 2003, and it is below the average of the 1970s,
the 1980s and the 1990s. (Applause.)

r40f have you ever taken an economics course?

there are ups and downs the president doesn'nt control.

your earlier post contradicts your comment "wow, that's so
great that he has gotten back the jobs he
lost in the first place!"

(earlier in this thrad)
"big bust of the dot.com boom - he did inherit this,
but it wasn't clinton's fault either. it was just the
natural order of the stock market. when it keeps getting
bigger and bigger, it eventually has to deflate or explode.

"

yes, i have. i am aware there are certain things the
president doesn't control.

but you want it both ways - you want to say that everything
good is because of bush and everything bad isn't.
unemployment and the stock market are two different things,
even though they are related. what i was pointing out was
that just because bush takes credit for creating new jobs
does not make it true.
