Q-Chastic - Q-Chastic (CAD 002)

Artemis from Ghent on 2002-01-30 14:40 [#00076379]

I there somebody who have ever seen this extreme rare record
on Rephlex which came out around 92? I thing there are
definitely less than 100 copes in existance. Has somebody it
on CDR? Its my most wanted item.

jand from Essex on 2002-01-30 15:08 [#00076389]

It doesn't exist...period(s)...

Honest..stop hunting...just one track exists fron that Art &
Philo comp (get the 256 MP3 if you can tho...)...

E me if you want it...

Artemis from Ghent on 2002-01-30 15:49 [#00076397]

Whoooooops! It doesn't exist, how it's possible? I'm looking
for a non-existance release? Why is it listed in a every
afx-discography? About "The philosophy of sound and
machine", i have that beautifull gemm. GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!

jand from Chelmsford,Essex, UK on 2002-01-30 15:51 [#00076399]

It's the old Aphex/Rephlex bullshit factor...

There must be more disinfo about AFX than anyone else...I
think thats the way he likes it...

Joyrex from joyrex.com of course! on 2002-01-30 16:20 [#00076404]

It does exist, I have known people who have owned it, and
certain individuals who are beyond repute who have the
tracks on DAT.

The Q-Chastic that appears on the ART2 CD is different from
the one that appears on CAT002.

jand from Essex on 2002-01-30 16:26 [#00076408]

Have you actually seen the EP then, Joy?..

Artemis from Ghent on 2002-01-30 16:27 [#00076409]

Is it really?! Do you know how much copies there are in
existance? This is without doubt one of the most mysterious
afx releases. I will give a good price for a CDR.

jand from Essex on 2002-01-30 16:28 [#00076411]

It just seems so unlikely...there has never been any MP3s
ripped, no 2nd copies etc....

I'm still doubtful...

Artemis from Ghent on 2002-01-30 16:31 [#00076413]

I haven't seen the release on ebay the past 2 years. When an
item doesn't appear on ebay for a year, there is a big
chance it doesn't exist.

Intruder from chicago on 2002-01-31 05:34 [#00076757]

Last year the owner of the record store i shop at here in
chicago, pulled me to the side one day when i came in.

He had a minidisc(a real minidisk not a mini cd) of these
real kind of raunchy caustic window/ab songs on it. one of
which was the song from the "philosophy" compilation.

Thing is, a few days prior to that, he and i were having a
disscussion about the actually existance of the Q-Chastic
material. he insisted that there was no way anyone would
hear any of the tracks, unless of course youre RDJ himself
or a friend of his.
He swore up and down he had them, he even wanted to bet
money.
then he actually brought it in.
i didnt really like it all that much. it kinda reminds me of
GAK for some reason.
but now, just for the hell of it, i think i'll make him copy
it for me.

Needless to say, it exists, and yes , SOME people do have
it.

whew...

Intruder from chicago on 2002-01-31 05:36 [#00076758]

EDIT: I insisted there was no way anyone would ever hear the
tracks.

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-01-31 06:12 [#00076762]

copy it and upload it :)

Duble0Syx from The East on 2002-01-31 07:39 [#00076772]

I get to download a copy I promise I want let anyone copy
it...

Duble0Syx from The East on 2002-01-31 07:41 [#00076773]

*If I get to...I'd even pay but thered be no way toknow if
there actually the q-chastic tracks. But I'd still love to
have it...

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2002-01-31 11:15 [#00076807]

It does exist, but only friends and people who worked with
the company got a copy. 200 copies were made. There were
only the 4 songs, and there is only the 1 song available is
usually crappy quality. It was on a compilation.

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-01-31 15:07 [#00076870]

(as if its being on a compilation reflects its sound
quality)

jand from Essex on 2002-01-31 15:39 [#00076891]

The 256 MP3 version is fine....& decent quality...(about 7
megs..)..

E me for a addy to download it....

Joyrex from joyrex.com of course! on 2002-01-31 16:17 [#00076901]

Jand: I've never seen it, but I've had discussions with both
Richard and Grant about it, and it DOES exist. Richard
doesn't even have a vinyl copy anymore, his only copy is on
DAT.

The tracks are a bit GAK-like (from the descriptions Grant
gave me) and like I said the version of the song 'Q-Chastic'
that appears on CAT002 is different from the one that
appears on the ART2 CD.

Just because it doesn't pop up on Ebay doesn't mean it
doesn't exist - look at all the old BoC - the reason you
don't see all those pre-hi-scores releases on the
file-sharing services and Ebay is because BoC were a bit
choosier about who they gave copies to, versus a test
pressing like AB5 which gets passed around by a lot of
people. Q-Chastic is in the same botat as the early BoC,
only a few people have even heard it, let alone owned the
actual vinyl. After all, it was a test pressing, and the
number are far lower than 100.

Artemis from Ghent on 2002-01-31 17:12 [#00076933]

Yes jand, the tracks you mentioned on MP3-file are these on
the ART/rephlex complition. MP-files of the Q-chastic-EP
doesn't exist on the net so far.

Intruder from chicago on 2002-02-01 04:16 [#00077315]

Well i got my CD-r from the guy today. he made me pay ten
bucks for it just because i didnt belive him. ass!
i listened to it twice. and as i said before, and Joyrex
mentioned its GAK-like. i really cant get into it. i think i
even like GAK better.
I dont know exactly how i'm going to do this, but i have a
56k connection, so doing it at my house is a definete NO.
However, my fiance's brother has a cable modem, and i think
he uses "winmx"?
I will ripped them off the cd and put them on his computer.
In which i will tell you all when i do, because if not many
people have these, i dont want people downloading ALL day
from his computer.

Now.
The quality of the songs is VERY good. the only 'noise' you
hear is the record "pop".

So i'll want to rip them at a high bit rate. i just dont
know how.
the one time i have done this before is for my HAB1&2
records. i dont think i could get more than like 192. anyone
know how to do 320?

Intruder from chicago on 2002-02-01 04:19 [#00077318]

and there are obviously no track names.

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-02-01 04:35 [#00077322]

where'd he get the minidisc from?

Duble0Syx from The East on 2002-02-01 09:28 [#00077351]

I only got a 56k, but I'd be willing to wait to download
them. I'd download directly from you if you'd let me...

E-man from Noitac ol on 2002-02-01 09:34 [#00077352]

One of the first things you HAVE!!! to do is make samples...
around one minute and give them to phob!!! not great quality
so no big space so everybody can hear of them before you
finish the others and they spread on the net.
If it is really Q-Chastic i'm going to spin on my head for a
while...

jand from Essex on 2002-02-01 09:57 [#00077355]

If (big if...) these are real, then I should imagine they'll
spread like wildfire anyway...

Will keep an eye on Soulseek and see what appears....

Then again, how the fuck will we know they are not fake
anyway?...

E-man from Noitac ol on 2002-02-01 10:56 [#00077358]

I think that if we can say it's like gak, or any of the rdj
sounds of that time, then it's a good imitation or the real
one

Loogie from UK on 2002-02-01 16:35 [#00077471]

I say a shit track is a shit track, ultra-rare or not.

If I download it and it's crap I ain't keeping it.

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-02-01 20:09 [#00077655]

keep in mind the origins of this mini-disc are still
unexplained and questionable at best. anyway, if it's real,
it may just not have made its way online, like that supposed
remix of craig david.

E-man from Noitac ol on 2002-02-02 11:12 [#00077869]

do you use soulseek??? just to have little bits... pliz!

i put them on my buddies cpu yesterday. he made them all 320
bit rate. they sound fucking awesome. just as good as on my
cd.
How do i know they are AFX for sure?
I dont. but you can kinda tell RDJ apart from a fluke. his
stuff can sound completely different , but one thing remains
the same. its got his style.
Besides, the guy i got it from owns a CHAIN of stores. here
and in the UK, i think too.

Now i just have to see when my friend wants to open up and
let you guys download.
But please guys, be civil. hes on got a cable modem, so try
not to bog the thing down all crazy.
either way, i'm only gonna be doing it for 2 days, tops.
from there, you guys will have to share amongst yourselves.

where did he get the mini from?
HE told me he owns a copy of the record. thats what we got
into an arguemnt in the first place about.

I didnt belive him, only because i didnt think they actually
existed.

Other than that, for rare records, he's got em all.
he's got Twoism too.
and he says his crown jewel is a frank sinatra record, he
says its worth about 10 thousand.
some people collect cards, some people collect obscure
records worth a fortune.
takes all kinds.

Only 2 exist... and they are just 1 song really, one is a
few seconds shorter than the other. It was used on a
compilation. You cant get the other ones. they dont exist.

If you read the rest of this thread you'll notice someone
claiming they're are going to upload all 4, and so I was
wondering if that is going to happen...
