i like your response. you're not acting like a typical
internet dunce, by tearing down a mans character. all you
did was portray your opinion. you might think its silly i'm
pointing this out, but it's really rare to find an honest
opinion expressed in this forum, or many others for that
matter.

i think the system we've got right now is pretty good.
although i think the electorial college is a bit dated. i
think an instant runoff would be better.

i respect others opinions, but here in this MUSIC forum, i
am certain that some others dislike all the politically
influenced threads. so i try to keep my politics at a
minimum, but today is election day, so i guess we can
overlook all of the poli talk.

i'm really an anarchist by heart but a democrat by need, we
need to get from step a to step b. and what we really need
is to lose our two party system, but that is niether here
nor there.

It's all silly anyway, Electoral votes were not meant to
decide the President, it was a means of showing an
overwhelming support for a popular grassroots leader.

Remember the 'Founding Fathers' based the US govt on the
idea that revolutions could occur. In the case that
entrenched aristocracy took over the US, the electoral vote
system would allow the people to forcibly put an outsider to
the system into the Presidency.

For "normal" elections, they assumed it would be impossible
for a candidate to get over half of the votes so the
Presidency would go to appointment by Congress. This is of
course circumvented by the 2 party system forcing the
American voters to vote for only 2 candidates vs the dozens
originially intended.

So...... in a nutshell, the system wasn't made to elect the
President so that's why it doesn't work well. The whole of
US Presidency is based on what's basically a contingency
plan.

what directly affects you mostly!)
