This thread made me think. I am not really known for
thought provoking posts and perhaps this wont be one of
them, but i would like (for once) to share my thoughts and
discuss them with others.

What is with this ultimate seriousness all of a sudden? I
have seen a number of things here on this board in my time.
But why is everyone getting banned?

I mean out of all people in that thread Lee got banned?
(correct me if wrong). How are you going to ban lee for
being lee? That man has contributed $$ to this site
supporting it. He bought my account here. It may not seem
like much but think about it, he is helping things with his
financial contributions. Paying for a site that has been
stalled for years.

Sure sillyness at times gets out of hand but what else is
new. That is half of what made me join this board. That is
what made it unique. Being unique is what makes this board
standout from others.

Before everything gets haywire we should all realize that
without us, the members, what use would this board be?
Without members knowledge of this rare music genre passes
slower. This site (?) would serve no real purpose if people
didnt come here.

By having an active community, others can come here and seek
support. Some of those individuals might be aspiring artists
seeking knowledge on programs, technical support or simpily
just trying to get there music heard.

This active community is able to answer the few questions
about music that surface.

Before i go any further i just want to state that i think
this "all of a sudden ambush of strictness" is completely
unnecessary. I also think (in my opinion) that it could
stand to hurt the community (discussed mildly earlier in
this post).

Mods/admins please take these words into consideration.

thanks.

i'm all for an open community. without an easy going vibe i
doubt i'd spend very much time here. getting rid of the
rif-raf such as myself, and all the off-topic posts that
come with me, may be exactly what is planned... which is
fine, because phobia owes me nothing.

but, i'd really hate to see it go that direction.

i think there's been way too much trolling and certain
situations which shouldn't have happened in recent months...
i suspect that today's events were a catalyst for a
crackdown, which is probably temporary. hopefully they'll
remove the people who just sign up to troll and it will be
back to normal. i don't believe the new seriousness really
exists. imho. ;)

P.S. I agree with everything vp said in the first post.

the very active nature of the board is definately what keeps
me hitting F5.

I think what Virginpusher describes is the site we all enjoy
and, despite several lapses of judgement by certain
over-excitable souls, everyone is incredibly well behaved.
This is the most coherent, witty, playful messagboards I
have ever found, with an excellent taste in music. However,
from what I have seen from the modding, that's not actually
what the owners of the site want. Though what they'd prefer,
in all seriousness eludes me.

the board has always been in a fragile equilibrium.

Lee is a large element in this balance but so are many
others.

we already lost dobbin earlier this year, it would seem.

and then came the New Seriousness.

then Lee fell.

the Balance has been lost. the board is careening out of
place.

will All be Lost?

everything I love about this place is being outlawed; the
people I like, the topics I visit, and most recently the
mods I like are all but gone, and in lue of them other, less
desirable mods are created. Do not get me wrong, I don't
have any ill will towards mr. jedi, I just don't trust him
with the power to delete (itchy trigger finger?)...I'll just
leave it at that.

first question :
where did the first part of the thread go ?

sneakattack has been pissing of phobs for a long time, look
at his avatar

and lee, you have to admit it, he loves to push peoples
buttons and yank their chains (have ever read any of his
posts about/to nacmat ?)

they will be back
settle down

to be honest, the best kind of mod I think is Ophecks.

he gets the job done, but in a normal, fun way.

he is a mod and still "one of us", if you will.

there should be more Opheckses.

i have a list of 17 people that have a multiple account on
the board, with every info about their usage of these
accounts. list contains additional 34 samples of html
trickery made by 78 other members.

i can change the list for a one year validate moderator
status, i dont think i ask for too much. then i would do
real cleaning by fucking off , lets say, 97% of the
board ( coz you know, they might do something in future,
aight ? ) and then we could have nice new clean mb for new
members to fuck.

I think that makes sense for the sort of board I believe
most of us enjoy, but that doesn't seem to be the direction
the board is intended for. You don't pick someone like Jedi
Chris, with all due respect, because he gets on with
everyone and can be even handed in the moderating stakes.
You pick him because he will enjoy waving his saber and
being narky about things that he doesn't understand because
anything he doesn't understand is more than likely
undesireable for XLT. For some reason.
