So the day before yesterday i was looking on the internet
for a laptop, and I kinda realized that everything was too
expensive for me right now, but if i saved up some money, i
would probly have enough around march.

Then yesterday morning, one of my co-workers showed me this
newspaper-clip with a SICK ASS COOL laptop, for only
€1480. And I was all like "whaaat! why haven't I saved up
for this right now?"...

Then the ill thing happened, as my boss, out of the blue,
borrowed me the money!
So right now I'm sitting in my bed, a Saturday morning with
hangovers, and posting topics on my new laptop. I'm so
happy! :D

Yesterday I also met a interesting girl, but let's see what
happens there...

Here's the specs on my laptop for you 1337 geeks:
Centrino 1.7ghz
512MB Ram
80Gb HDD
Tv-out, Tv-in, tv-tuner, radio, full feature remote-control
(for when connected to the tv), lotsa' software (including
microsoft flight sim 2004...) and DVD-RW
(yes...double-layered DVD-burner)

With this laptop I'm finally ready for live-performance! My
plan is to play live within 2 weeks from now, and now I
finally have it all in a laptop...

you might wanna upgrade your RAM on there mate, especially
since i'm guessing you're running XP on there?

nice system though :)

laptops are great aren't they??!

I think you got ripped off man
My laptop is a P4M 2G and everything else minus the remote
control and it wasn't that expensive...

think the RAM's ok for me...i'm gonna' reformat it with
Win2000 some day anyway ;) I hate XP ...but since it was all
preinstalled, then i thought "what the hell" :)

...oh and I forgot to mention the ATI MOBILITY RADION 9700
with 64MB RAM. ....I can actually run Doom3 pretty well on
this :)

just make sure you make a note of all your devices and stuff
(optical drive model number, modem model number, etc etc
etc) because you'll most likely have to download drivers for
Win2k

personally, 512MB on a PC system for making music isn't
enough....i could barely get what i wanted to get done on my
iBook with 786MB RAM. i'm even thinking of outfitting my
PowerBook with the full 2GB when i have the money!

can you really????!!!

that's great!!!

my PowerBook has the 128MB ATI Radeon 9700 card in it, it
should fly on this :D

i was worried that it wouldn't run very well

*fingers crossed for the Mac OS X version of DOOM 3 to be
done quickly*

It has never been a RAM-problem for me...more a question of
soundcards, but that's no problem here, as I have a M-Audio
Ozone (and they have a build in kick-ass soundcard)...

I'm basically only using FL4.1 and Ableton Live! anyways :)

ahh that's ok then :D

you're all set!

for a performance situation i'm hoping to integrate some
Ableton Live and Reason, and my Casio's ;)

well, 'running great' in Doom3 is a question about
standards...I haven't seen a computer where the Doom3 system
analyser said "your computer should run high settings" ....

But almost smooth graphics in 1024x768 with
low-graphic-settings is pretty good, when my 2Ghz AMD, 640mb
RAM, with a Geforce FX5200 128Mb runs lamer on 800x600

my PC system was recommended for High Quality

AMD Athlon64 3000+ (clock speed of 2GHz)
1GB 333MHz RAM
nVidia GeForce 6800 GT 256MB RAM Graphics Card

1024x768 at full quality is nice ;)

I'm doing a very basic buildup with the live-set...all my
tracks in Ableton, lot's of preprogrammed VST's, and then
connected to all the MIDI-controllers on my Ozone...then I
should be able to 'just' play my music, twiddle some knobs,
and still get the feelings of a performance :)
