Goran speaks the truth... this album is a nice'un...

i especially like the second track Radiophony... reminds me
of not only Jeck, but also older post-industrial ambient
type stuff like Zoviet France...

people who are less familiar with Staubgold but are
interested in relatively accessible experimental stuff
should definitely check out their brand new compilation
Tempo Technik Teamwork... it features tracks by the Loop
Orchestra, as well as Wechsel Garland, Ekkehard Ehler (with
John Frusciante!), Keith Rowe & Oren Ambarchi, Ehlers Suchy
& Hautzinger, Dean Roberts, AGF, Faust vs. Dalek,
Kammerflimmer Kollektief, Michael J. Schumacher, etc.
it doesn't have too much unreleased material on it, but if
you are unfamiliar with the label it is a fantastic
primer...
lots of great artists on this label very worth checking
out...

that haunt me and radio amor!

doesn't look like it...im not sure this would be something
up to your likings really..perhaps it sounds a bit too
abstract..noisy at times. but still if you get a chance
check them out :)

yeah, I try to check out as much as possible.. sometimes I
like things I wouldn't ordinarily like...

for instance, I've found that I like this particular release, but
nothing else that's I've heard that's similar (merzbow or
four tet live).. so far...

i was able to listen to rolex..i had to open it with
explorer though (mozilla wasn't good).

hmm, sounds pretty varied...i'll definitely look for it.
plenty of different styles there..from mellow glitchy noise
to very abstract noise. reminds me of sir dupermann quite a
bit..
if you like that, you should check this loop orchestra for
sure..and philip jeck! and in case you don't know tim
hecker, and you like that glitchy noisy stuff, check tim's
latest album 'mirages'.

I'll try to see if I can find any of it.

..

hecker was the only one I found on Boomkat.. listening to
the samples.. I like what I hear so far (just heard the
first of the three songs from "mirages")

nice! I think I'll look for Mirages!

It's a pain in the ass to search for samples for Loop
Orchestra... all I get is "drum loop samples" and shit like
that...

can't seem to track down any samples of jeck.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2004-10-29 04:53 [#01375803]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

for jeck

while looking for these samples i read some
reviews...everyone rated it real high..he's perhaps my
favourite artist at the moment..well, and afx :)

i linked you to the samples of stoke, which might be my
favourite, although you should check his other stuff as
well..for instance '7' was much less abstract and more
ambiental..

Points: 35867 Status: Lurker | Followup to tolstoyed: #01375803 | Show recordbag

yeah, found that one, but the thing is that the samples are
realmedia, and I can't play that back here at work... and I
can't install codecs on my own either, so it's a bit of a
hassle.. I can only playback mp3 and wmv.

btw: have you checked Martin Horntveth (the guy who does the
electronic stuff for Jaga Jazzist)? I think he's got a few
tracks that are worth it, but I wouldn't really buy the
entire albums 'cause it's just too few tracks that are good
enough...

good god..this sure was tough to find :)

here are some mp3's of his latest album..a collaboration
with janek schaefer. i haven't heard this album yet, but
judging on that first sample it sounds a bit more like his
'7' than his previous work.

i don't think i've heard horntveth..i'll look out for him as
well.

sounds.. I don't know.. for some reason this made me feel
like I do when I try listening to squarepusher.. I don't
really feel anything.. I don't like it, I don't dislike
it... I'm completely neutral.

download this...and if i like the whole thing i might even
get the proper release.

hmm... tough question... maybe Monomische? Shadow, Thief of
the Sun? for something a bit newer, maybe try The
Decriminalisation of Country Music...

if you have Soulseek let me know your username and i can
hook you up...
