last night my band maudlin played our biggest gig yet...
went really well and we got a really awesome response. it
was a particularly emotional set for me after having a
nervous breakdown literally an hour earlier (long story) but
i uploaded one of the songs we debuted last night...
possibly my favorite maudlin song thus far. and i would
really love to hear what you all make of it.
recording quality is really good...

briony lutrell : cello, double bass

This is really awesome. It reminds me of bjork a lot, only
more tolerable and chill i suppose. Keep it up.

actually, i've decided to give maudlin their own little
folder along with the rest of my music. If you got some
really kickass artwork to go with some tracks, i wouldn't
hesitate paying for this in CD-mode.

You are turning into a spam monkey teapot. I will listen
tomorrow when I return from my day of shitty shopping with
the missus.

Why Maudlin? doesn't that mean insincere empathy or
something like that?

spam monkey! no way... really? :/

err... maudlin means to be meloncholic and reflective it was
a word used in latin or something to describe mary magdelene

I haven't been here much myself so I don't know if my claims
are correct, but as it was me saying them there must be a
pretty good chance that they are.

Maudlin:

It was the latin word for magdelene but it's modern
interpretation is as Jivver discribed. I contacted Richard
Whiteley who confirmed this information as correct and Carol
said 93.

It was based on Mary Magdelene but it's meaning has evolved
throughout the years. Maudlin means pretend sympathy
nowadays. Check some dictionary sites.

hm... i was under the impression it was like a full on
sadness thing, but if it is as you say, that is still pretty
cool... sinister connotations... oh well it could be thought
of as that way.

In a southerners accent...

Oim Sarry! Jast troing to sort phings art duchess.
Awwight, take a deep breff treacle. Forget it! I'm off to
hobble to the fridge...

i'm much interested but the boss doesn't allow to d/l mp3s
because he has a stupid provider who sets stupid limits and
stupidly big prices for traffic. I download some, of course,
but secretly.
I feel bereaved...
