Serious Ripping Session

I've actually become so lazy that I can't really be
bothered to change CDs anymore (plus i like my randomise
button on winamp). So I'm now ripping all my Cds to MP3, can
anyone suggest a quicker way than Winamps little ripping
package? Or do i just sit here patiently for a week?

listen to some music while you're waiting.

I use FreeRip...don't know if it's faster, but it's pretty
darn good...

I did the same thing 3 years ago, and been doing it ever
since. I only trust 192kbps stereo mp3's, 'cause
variable bitrates fuck up my visualitation in winamp, + it's
a compact, but stilll high quality format.

Good tip: decide how you want your mp3's and folers named; I
do it like this:
Artist - Album (Year)/Artist - Album - Trck# - Title.mp3

yeah...when playing variable bitrate mp3s, my MilkDrop
visualization in Winamp is really lacking

i use CDex, it has this remote tagging feature, you enter
the cd, click a button, get all the filenames and id3 tags
from a cddb database. plus it comes with the latest lame
encoder.

with a fast drive you can rip 60 min audio into 256kbps in
less then ten minutes

freerip is better IMO ...has the cddb-feature too (I think
all rippers has that)....

the faster you rip the more chance you get of mp3 glurps

Itunes does a good job. Not the fastest but you just need to
press the copy button and then go have some coffee

well maybe every 20 cds there is a jitter error but at least
cdex tells you if that happens. in that case i use EAC
(exact audio copy).

i used dbpoweramp music converter to rip all my cds. it can convert
between formats (i think it only comes with lame mp3 and wav
codecs though, but you can download others from the site),
and it also comes with a cd ripping software. i don't know
how good it is though, compared to other software, because
its the only thing i've used.

sweet as, i'll give some ago. I've come across an odd CD
now, I won't say what it is, otherwise i'll be banned (its
that bad, well 2 b on this site and own this cd) but none of
my players pickup the track infos, and it won't rip
either......ever seen this before?

ha ha!!

those visualisations are crap!

you'd choose a silly visualisation over soundquality!?

i'd chose titties over sound quality, but not visualisatons

I use itunes, extremely fast on my G5 1.8 and also I use AAC
format as its better quality than mp3's.

also make sure its at least 192kbps if you want good
quality.

192kbps = cd-quality...how the hell should I need more than
that?

besides...visualization is good for live-gigs and for
background when running it through my tv...
