music for the masses by miles. anything up to violator is
wicked and worth hearing. after that, imho, it's mostly
shite.

i'd get the first singles collection, then music for the
masses and violator. 101 is good as well.

"Exciter" IMO, "Violator" really near then "Ultra" a little
behing those two.

Exciter has been produced by Mark Bell (LFO) so it's very
well produced, there are several killer songs and the other
ones are really nice.

Violator sounds more like 80's, for instance New Order
(Brotherhood - Low Life period IMO). There are also killer
tracks but some are a little boring (tracks 2 & 3).

Ultra is nice, only 2 killers tracks to my mind (Barrel of a
Gun and and the 4th one, don't remember its name). One or
two tracks are pretty weak as on violator. The three last
are really nice, but overall it's not as good as the two
other albums.

I don't like the pre-violator DM stuff... it's different,
maybe someone there could tell you about this period.

this is the kind of thing that'll split the generations on
here. can't imagine the 'kids' liking anything pre
violator, and i can't imagine us old fuckers liking anything
after.

this thread was on ninjatune lately and had the same
result.

bless you wee little scamps.

1 Songs of faith and devotion (+ adrenaline remix of "Higher
love")
2 Violator + all 4 singles & all remixes
3 A broken frame + all 3 singles

?.....this is some great material!

For me, it's definitely Some Great Reward. Nice and dark and
sleazy, and the production sounds pretty tasteful, not all
that aged.

A Question of Lust pushes Black Celebration to second, my
favorite Mode track... makes me stand up when I'm sitting
down.
