Typical pathetic elitist response...."Oh NO! He doesn't make
music consisting of fart noises, senseless 'melodies', and
lots of cool random beats!!!"

He is a good trance producer, but I think there are better
ppl out there (like Hybrid, BT, or Way Out West.)

Typical pathetic philistine response...."Oh NO! I have the
psychological complexity of your average chiuwawa puppy and
I like to listen to cream cheese pressed on vinyl! I like my
music to lack any personality! Critical attitudes are overly
analytic, unfeeling, pedantic, elitist -- why can't we all
just boogie down to 50 Cent?"

he doesn't even make his own tracks.
he has a soundengineer that does these things for him.
also. the stupid melodie for the track Traffic was 100%
ripped from a techno track. you keep listening to empty
music. I listen to all kinds of music as long as it sencere.
and trance is is formalatic crap.

Infected Mushroom and Astral Projection and such are about
the only decent trance. Well, there are some others, but I
won't admit to them to such a hostile audience.

does Banco De Gaia make trance music? I've heard he's really
good, never got round to listening to his music yet
though...

To be honest, I think tiesto is shit. But I don't like the
way any mainstream/normal act is slated here.

There are brilliant acts that are overlooked, like Hybrid or
Way Out West or BT.

not really, more like the orbs stuff. you might call it
trance though, i've never been good with genres.
pick up "big men cry" or "last train to lhasa".

elitists.

but aren't mainstream/normal acts generally the artists
making the shittest music?

You're right-a lot of mainstream stuff is crap.

I was thinking more along the lines of people like Jean
Michel Jarre, or Mike Oldfield, or Vangelis....

offline zaphod from the metaverse on 2004-10-18 14:50 [#01366000]

if jean michel jarre is mainstream, we've got to redefine
that word.

both are israeli, incidentally

well he's pretty mainstream in the electronic music
world...I mean, his new album Aero was number 2 in the
French charts and he's sold like 60 million albums.

offline magicant from Canada on 2004-10-18 14:57 [#01366011]

i did not hear the olympics. but i'm hearing his MAGIK
series CDs. they're wicked.

Tiësto is not shit. He is THE shit.

and i respect Tiësto enough to press Alt + 0235 to make the
"ë" symbol.

Vangelis... the one that did the Blade Runner soundtrack?
he's awesome, what other stuff is good by him?

I personally think only about 1% of peole here are elitist
here, a lot of people here just happen to like more
alternative/underground music which is where most of the
best stuff comes from. Of course if someone posts about
Tiesto he's going to get slated... its not elitism, he just
doesn't compare to what most of us normally listen to.

1492 conquest of paradise is okay but fromage at times..
sometimes vangelis just kinda gets too excited and cums all
over the keys. there's a best of i think, with the
quintiessential 'chariot of fire' track etc

good Vangelis albums: Mythodea (gothic/classical) Heaven and
Hell (early experimental) The City (atmospheric) and Spiral
(typical 70's electronic music)

you should spend a few weeks in the Netherlands - you'll
just about get pelted to death with Tiësto, his "music" and
his utterly infuriating inane grin.

although lately it has been the more huggable rapper called
Ali B. you can hardly switch channels without him being on.

'fuck al die losers die alleen underground shit willen

only longer. i messaged him saying something along the lines

Hm...perhaps Banco De Gaia's first album Maya could be
considered Trance, but that's it afaik. And I don't mean
"newer" sounding Trance. We're talking old-school early 90s
Acid-Trance reminiscent to the Platipus label.
