just got back...it was awesome! i've seen russel haswell before but this was something else. i mean the stuff haswell was playing was great as wel, but he wasn't doing much, while akita is actually 'composing' live...he's using two laptops and a mixer and he's changing frequencies with his mouse - he's composing with circling and moving his mouse and the outcome is brilliant...really worth seeing. so go see him if you get a chance :)
his reputation must be real good btw, since the place was fully packed (a big surprise coz people here usually don't care for electronica)...even chris eckman (the walkabouts) attended it :)

no...im sorry...perhaps i should have. i knew what he looked like, but he was standing next to me during the opening act but i couldn't tell it was him coz he had his hair under the cap and he definitely doesn't look like a 48 year old :)

i haven't seen anyone dancing...just standing, enjoying it..although there were some people dancing at haswell's gig.
actually there was quite some rhythm most of the time so it was dancable..
i haven't seen so many people in this club so far...there were some other japanese dudes there..dunno whether they follow him everywhere he goes or they just hapen to be there.

i had earplugs with me but there was no need to use them really...although it was a funny scene just before akita started playing...plenty of people have started putting their earplugs in (me including but i took them as soon as my ears got a bit used to it...it's a standard procedure :)
it was ringing in my ears and i could hardly hear something about an hour after the gig, but it was all back to normal after that.
crazone, i wish i could review the tracks or something, but it was all just standard merzbow sound...but as i said above, it was all composed out of the 'heart'...meaning he was improvising, and that's the true beauty of his performance :)
