I climbed the black tower twice last night. Seemed like a
good idea at the time but BLAM!

Please imbue me with your wisdom. Cures, Remedies, Charms,
Techniques, Positions?

i go for crap food, hamburger is probably the best choice,
cola to drink for that.. no coffe untill later at the day.

then after getting that to eat i often play sawII or some
other ambient and watch tv without any sound with loads of
blankets laying on two fat pillows in the bed.

doesnt really work but it's slacky and doesnt make a
headache worse

I avoid it by trying to drink like a gallon water before I
goto sleep. It works like a charm. Otherwise I'm screwed.

offline Dannn_ from United Kingdom on 2004-10-16 15:24 [#01364826]

Yeah, drink loads of water before you sleep. And if you wake
up thirsty in the night you really have to get a drink,
you'll be glad you did.

In the morning I'd drink more water, then have nice big bowl
of cornflakes and some Coke.

I always thought if I was going to commit suicide I'd get
horribly drunk the night before, get up really early with a
vile hangover and get on a bus or something, and then death
would be really welcoming.

Buses and bad hangovers are worse than hell. Especially when
the bus is taking you to work. I've prayed for death many a
time.

Haha, you're perfectly welcome to call me deepslace if you
like... i think it's the hideous chugging vibration that
does it on buses... it's like a big horrible tentacle
squeezing on your alcohol-churning stomach.

I'm trying to limit myself to 2 days a week being
really drunk at the moment, as opposed my previous
week-in-week-out stupor. Today is one of the magical 2 days.
:D

Haha, "DEEPSLAZE" makes me sound like a robotic pornstar.
This is most certainly a good thing.

The interweb can be a pretty dull place, especially in the
board's quieter moments (can you tell i'm a real addict
woofie)... if yer bored, maybe play some mindless computer
game for a while, i'd suggest reading but it's hard to
remember what the fuck is going on with the plot once you've
had a few drinkies.

Also: free drinks? Awe Some. AWESOME. I needed a drink or
ten after the day i had in work, but it goshdarn ain't
coming for free.

Haha, that's pretty much my state of affairs come the end of
the night. Many cigs ---> water and maybe something to eat
if i'm not too pissed to cook ---> hit f5 a lot on the
interweb ---> pass out.

Awe Some. AWESOME.

what wiki thinks:

The cures
Common folk medicine has a wide variety of hangover cures.
Indeed there appear to be nearly as many ways of curing
hangovers as there are of getting drunk in the first place.
Essentially all of these hangover cures have one major thing
in common, which is that they are nowhere near as effective
at curing a hangover as alcoholic drinks are at getting you
drunk.

Among the more common (and relatively effective) cures are:

drink a large amount of water before going to bed, and
during the night
eat pickles, canned fish, or other mineral-rich foods
drink some (not too strong) coffee but be wary of
caffeine-induced dehydration
cabbage leaves or tomato juice
cysteine, which is available as the over the counter
supplement N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is known to assist in
processing acetaldehyde, best taken already while drinking
and before going to bed. (Egg yolk is also rich in cysteine,
and it is notable that many hangover folk remedies or
morning-after breakfasts incorporate eggs.)
drink some more (hair of the dog)
take a vitamin B1 supplement before going to bed as alcohol
flushes out all B1.
A reasonably effective recipe developed by college students
at Franklin & Marshall College (http://www.fandm.edu) uses
the following.

1 liter water
2 standard multivitamin supplements
2 standard generic aspirin
1 tablet of caffeine stimulant (such as No-Doz)
Directions: consume all the above together and immediately
go to sleep.

It is notable however, that the liver can be highly stressed
by processing the amount of alcohol necessary to cause a
hangover, and taking pain medicine that the liver needs to
additionally process, can be toxic or damaging. This is
especially true with acetaminophen (Tylenol), which has
known liver toxicity implications.

As of 2003, the latest fad hangover cure is a Russian pill,
sold in Russia as Antipokhmelin (Anti-Hangover), and
marketed as RU-21 in the USA. It is also known as the KGB
pill due to its supposed use by the KGB to allow spies to
keep a clear head while drinking.

Coke Cola, otherwise known as "Black Doctor". Commonly in
use in Australia. If you are suffering from nausea and
vomiting, the caffine, bubbles and sugar can be easier to
hold down than pure water.
