I don't see the difference except a 2nd disc with some
selected tracks from the remixes releases, and 3 demo
versions of songs.

years since the last album . . .

yeah... as much as i love NIN, i am not buying the downward
spiral over again for three demo tracks.

the sonic youth dirty deluxe edition was way better. it had
all the b-sides and tons of unreleased rehearsal jams. it's
excellent.

if you have the normal edition and Further Down The Spiral,
you have the best i think... (i have downloaded all tracks
from both editions from Further Down The Spiral and made a
playlist with them, sometimes it's a bit redundant but there
are some really great remixes/tracks in there!)

just download Dead Souls if you don't have it yet, it's a
great song and one of the least angst-ridden NIN songs i
know - almost upbeat! (i have yet to hear the original by
the way - now that i think of it, i'm not sure i have ever
heard anything by Joy Division/New Order...)

Dead Souls (Joy Division cover).

not the best sound quality but what the hell, just ask the
blue bird for a better quality : )

i remember when i bought the fragile and listented to it for
the first time. i enjoyed the music, but then trent reznor
sang the pathetic lines "the clouds will part and the sky
cracks open and god himself will reach his fucking arm
through just to push you down, just to hold you down" (the
state of mind of a 13y old goth-outcast) which made the
whole music ridiculous. he may have some idea of music
making - but he's rather stupid (that's why he shouldnt sing
his embarrassing "poetry").

it's mixed in 5.1 - i imagine with the right setup it will
sound gorgeous.

hey, it's rock music. since when is it the criteria of rock
"must always have mind-blowingly brilliant lyrics"?

in general, sometimes lyrics can come off as cheesy or
hackneyed or whatever. not everyone will have the same
taste. you could take just about any poem ever written and
put it into a context that makes it seem lame.

so would i. i'm not sure i could. but i figured you'd say
that. that's why i included the failsafe, "just about" to
allow for the plethora of exceptions to the rule. :)

HA! very good, carry on. :)

(I think, if you really want to, you can indeed find faults
in a lot of poetry. but some poetry is easier to shoot holes
into than others and you could just as easily see that as a
prime criterium for what devides good from bad poetry: the
easier it is to find fault (the more obvious the faults
are), the worse the poetry is...)

i already have heard all the xtra songs, except for the
demos, it will be nice to have this collection all on one cd
then

trent doesnt need the money by any means
he basically self-made a genre of music
who doesnt list theri influneces as nin ?

ill get it, dont really care about thre remastering
i knew about this a few weeks ago and have been listening to
"the downward spiral" cd, its a perfect ANGST cd

cant wait for BLEEDTHROUGH

i think Refund is right, let people do the music they want!
: )
but welt is also right, let people have the opinion they
want about the music...

anyway i think the worst lyric lines by NIN are the ones
that come right after the ones welt mentioned:

"(the clouds will part and the sky cracks open
and god himself will reach his fucking arm
through
just to push you down
just to hold you down)
stuck in this hole with the shit and the piss
and it's hard to believe it could come down to this
back at the beginning
sinking
spinning
"

...

this just makes me cringe. getting your inspiration from the
toilet can be ok, but not when you're making "serious"
music... : |

i don't know whether he's got a lot of money or not. i
heard that his former manger or agent had him sign away just
about all his rights and screwed him out of millions and
that's what the lawsuit is about. we could only speculate.

are these deluxe editions a scam? in some ways i think
they're great. it's sort of like getting the DVD re-release
of a VHS.

that's why i was hoping that the downward spiral would have
more unreleased stuff on it - because i already have all the
other tracks on cd... oh well.

if you're offering a cd that really only is now in surround
and add stuff that most of the fans already have anyway,
plus you produce two formats that have slightly different
content each, that does rather sound like trying to make a
nice little bit of money.

it doesn't matter how many people say Reznor influenced
them, that doesn't mean you can pull off a stunt like that.

I think those lyrics posted are really bad. But not because
I think they are uncreative or something, but because it
seems very insincere. I don't know how mr. Reznor views the
world, or whatever, but, to me, it seems pretty egotistical
and unwarranted for someone who is making a living as
basically a "rock star" to say that. In fact it makes
relatively little sense for nearly any american to say that.
I know there are many privileged people who are very
depressed or angry for various reasons, but they are usually
better at expressing their state of mind/reasons for feeling
that way, other than stupid shit that says basically "God
hates me."
If god exists (s)he must hate everyone, but not equally.
Most anyone who has the time/effort to sulk about trivial
shit, and revel in it, has been blessed much... So much that
they are actually able to focus on and dwell on their
negativity, instead of worrying about just staying alive...
Those people are, instead, constantly being faced by REAL,
tangible problems, like starvation, war, etc... -Things that
should justify sorrowful emotions. - The people who actually
have to go through a physical hell every day are the ones,
and I think, the only ones who should say/express things
like Trent often says.
The human race sickens me sometimes. It's like we have run
out of problems so we create them out of next to nothing and
severely over-exaggerate. I'm not saying I am above this,
but seeing it just really bothers me when people are so
drawn to it and condone it.
I think Reznor's a talented, brilliant musician who's lyrics
are often too full of his self-pity. He could be taking that
negativity and using it to reflect the world, criticizing
what needs to be changed, or making something that people
can relate with, other than naive kids saying "Oooh. How
deep this is. I also hate life." Or something.
Sorry for the unneeded rant.
