Well, I'm 19 years old now, and like much of the
populace, I've had orthodontal work (i.e. braces). This
wouldn't be bad, y'know, straight teeth are always a good
thing, but my orthodontist was a total asshole.

Worst Vampire Problem Ever.

Okay, I was just wondering if I was the only vampire who has
this problem. I have been a vampire for about two years now
and I have this extreme problem if I bleed. Anytime I see
large amounts of my own blood, I freak out -- and frankly it
scares me (not a lot of things do but this definitely does).
I am also wondering if I will ever get over this.

9. Being able to smell blood, but not see it. Let's tease
the beast.

I was at a little cafe with my friends and they were playing
pool. I decided not to play but to watch the t.v., instead.
As I turned to look at the t.v., flashing and neon lights
flashed into my eyes, and I kind of jumped and covered my
eyes (that was the worst headache I have had in a while).
Then my friends came over and were like, "Are you ok?", and
I just replied, "It's way too bright." I started to feed on
some peoples' energy for a bit to see if that would help,
but I guess it made the headache worse. I think I fed a
little too much from the people playing pool next to my
friends, and they started to get rude and (judging from how
they looked) real tired. This caused problems between them
and my friends, and we ended up leaving. It was the worst,
especially since my friends themselves were now pissed.

5. People with attitudes. And the season marathon of Buffy
memorized and on tape. And yes, someone has made the attempt
to chase me around with a pointy stick.

from the "Teen Vampires Section" (!), I give you..

..Ethics for the Recently Awakened Vampire

1.) Being a vampire does not give me an excuse to act
superior to non-vamps.

2.) I will be patient with anyone new to vampirism and not
give them faulty information.

3.) People do stupid things when they’re young: I will not
feed from someone without informing them exactly what they
are getting into.

4.) I realize that I am constantly learning about vampirism
and myself but I will use common sense when listening to
others' views of vampirism.

5.) Non-vampires occasionally pose as vampires, and I will
not think less of them for being misinformed, and realize
that even they may be able to teach me important things.

6.) I may be a vamp, but I'm not invincible.

7.) Even when going through blood withdrawal, there is NO
excuse for drinking from any living being without their
permission.

8.) I will take all the proper precautions with my donor, to
ensure both our safety.

9.) Although I am a vampire I am not immune to blood-borne
disease.

10.) I will not flaunt my vampirism to people that should
not know about it.

11.) I will tell only people I trust implicitly to be
understanding and not tell others who may be a danger to me,
should they know.

12.) My physical health is important and I will try my best
to stay a healthy human, even when I don’t feel like
eating or sleeping properly.

13.) I will try to be open to views other than my own.

14.) A sense of humor is vital to everyone, and I am not
afraid to laugh at myself; sometimes it’s the only way to
get through a day.

15.) Being nocturnal does not give me an excuse to sleep in
class.

16.) Just because I am a new vampire does not mean that I
should isolate myself from my friends; my awakening did not
change who I am.

(cont)

17.) I am not any more of a vampire if I act the part;
fictional vampires are fiction and I do not need to prove my
vampirism by dressing in black, listening to rock music, or
frightening people.

18.) My donor is a very important person, and I will be
patient with them and understand if they aren’t feeling up
to donating, even if I am very hungry.

19.) Going through blood withdrawal does not give me
permission to snap at my peers, my teachers, or my parents.

20.) I will not attribute every odd feeling I have to
vampirism; I can get physically ill as easily as anyone
else, and check all “symptoms” with a doctor before I
jump to any conclusions.

"I have many problems with being a vamp. As a 20-year-old
I'm in college and I must walk outside between classes and
that hurts so much. My family thinks that I should seek some
help. I know what's wrong with me I just can't do anything
about it. My other problem was I was talking to a fellow
female vamp and she claimed that I was a role player. Now
I'm aware that names don't mean anything, but when someone
acusses me of being a role player that's just hurtful."

"Here is a bitch of a problem for me: I am an EMT and am
constantly exposed to blood in a scenario where drinking is
not only socially unacceptable but illegal and WRONG. Try
that one on for size."

he's an EMT? thats reassuring.

To be perfectly honest, i think most of these vampiric
problems could be solved with "just a nice beer".

Beer, people. It's a panacea for all ills.

we could become an Anti-Vampirism Team.

we'd barge into the person's house, carrying a few crates of
beer, slap in a good mixtape..

one of us would smack the so-called vampire squarely in the
face while screaming "PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER MAN!!", while
the other calmly cracks open the first beer..

I think we'd probably need a funnel, some scantily-clad
"goffic" dancers (complete with emo glasses) and a bottle of
Holy Tequila in case the going gets rough. But it sounds
like a Very Good Idea in principle. Sort of like
ghostbusters, only with nice beer.

sometimes being a vamp can lead to humiliating and
embarrassing situations. for example, i went camping with a
group of non-vamp friends; i have tried to be open minded
and not let being a vampire change who i am. when i got a
tick on me, however, they all just laughed and laughed.
their laughter was, to me, somewhat hurtful...

One time I wore my vampire caps to our local Rennaisance
Faire and everything was going fine for a while. Then, Sir
Walter Raleigh saw my "teeth" and he thought I was a demon
or something. He started yelling, "Get this person
exorsized! They are evil!" This lady comes up and starts
throwing Holy Water on my clothes. I looked at her like
she's crazy. The good thing is that Sir Walter Raleigh
decided to give up on me, so he said, "You have now been
almost fully cleansed of the evil spirit. To finish your
exorcism, run 3 times around the square and do a few
push-ups."

vampires remind me of suicide girls and fat-mall-goth girls
who listen to slipknot and wear mini back-packs.... i
definately try to think of the prior when reminded of
"vampires". GO HALLOWEEN!!
