Hey folks...long time no see. i just saw both of moore`s
last two documentaries in two days....and i can honestly
state how deeply sorry i am for the united staters. poor
bastards, how badly has the media come to manipulate and
overule them in such a way where they can buy countless ammo
from k-mart...how corruption in the high ranks of their
soiety is poluting the entire world, how that very ideal
society that they`ve built has led them to worldwide ranks
of homicide and children murdering, crumbling down in such a
sadly and glorious way.......how ignorance is leading entire
redneck and white trash communities into violence and
support for the wrong politicians....it is probably been
talked about it over and over in this mb, but i couldnt find
it with the search button (isnt that amazing...), and really
wanted to say something, in regards to the upcoming
president elections.

vote bush, ruin your day (or is it pay his day?)

Planet Shope only has 1/3 of earth's gravity.

i spend most of my days leaping over 10 story buildings, and
throwing nerf footballs and jetliners.

the us are so strong they force other countries to have
liberal economies which is pretty sad. i'm quite pessimistic
about how the world's going, there has to be some change on
an international scale. americans should massively vote
socialist for more justice and less greed.

michael moore is a sensationalist jackass. he hasn't swayed
any voters because he's preaching to the converted, and he's
also a hypocrite for not actually contributing to any of the
causes he so fervently claims to support. he makes liberals
look bad.
jon stewart is having a much larger impact on young voters
over here than michael moore will ever have.

what kind of impact is jon stewart having on young american
voters?

offline zaphod from the metaverse on 2004-10-13 14:06 [#01362020]

well, there was a poll among that demographic that
represents the kind of people moore is attempting to get to
vote for kerry, i guess it'd be 18-25 year olds, and
something like sixty percent of them regularly watch the
daily show and get their news from that as well. thats a
sort of disheartening idea, but stewarts got some amount of
power right now over the college age crowd because he and
his show is so blatently pro kerry.
i'm also not saying that impact is large, simply large in
contrast to moore, who's taking the propaganda route which
really isn't doing anything for him or the people he's
trying to sway.

hmm...interesting what you miss when you don't watch
television. i had no idea his show was so popular now.

just this morning, watching fox news at the gym, i thought
"it's interesting that there isn't a counterpoint to this
obviously pro-bush news coverage". fox is pretty blatantly
pro-bush, or at least pro-invasion, if you ask me.

anyway, getting off topic. back to the fat loud man. i
actually admire the guy...he's using his power to directly
affect public opinion. whether or not it's working, you
have to applaud him for trying.

i do admire what he's been doing, and, as propaganda,
farenheit 9/11 is a great piece of work. if he actually does
influence the election toward a positive (kerry) outcome,
than i'm happy. i just can't stand the man himself. he's the
liberal answer to rush limbaugh.

i think that's a pretty valid comparison.

that being said; i'd much rather hang out with moore than
limbaugh... although rush probably would have some pretty
good pills.

ah yes, because a vote for nader is a vote for bush.

offline Rostasky from United States on 2004-10-13 15:25 [#01362091]

Are you joking?

A vote for Kerry is a vote for almost the exact same shit as
Bush. (Not to say that Kerry is as bad or worse than Bush)

Honestly, I could actually stand another four years of
George Bush if in the next election, third parties were
actual candidates.

Besides, just voting AGAINST something is incredibly dumb.

offline zaphod from the metaverse on 2004-10-13 15:31 [#01362097]
Points: 4428 Status: Addict

our democracy as it exists is flawed. not everyone is
equally represented, the electoral college is a bullshit
idea. the last thing we need to worry about is a third
party. as much as i hate to say that, because i like naders
ideas, its just the reality of the situation. we need to fix
the system we have before totally changing it. also, a vote
for nader draws a vote away from kerry. nader won't win. its
essentially a vote for bush, whether you want to admit it or
not.

offline Rostasky from United States on 2004-10-13 15:39 [#01362104]
Points: 1572 Status: Lurker

Actually, its worth a little less than a vote for Bush : )
But I know what you mean. And I realize that this probably
isn't the best election for third parties to emerge, but it
has to start soon for anything to change. You are probably
right, I just wanted to remind people that there were
different ideas out there, and while you don't need to vote
for them, it is definitely important that people support
them.

Third parties really need to start getting their names out
right after this election if they want any change of getting
in the single digits in 2008 :/
