Probably something like autechre vs afx.

Xltronic: music that is Shit or Boring. Mostly in my
threads.

They're all very successful bands that retain, in varying
degrees, artistic credibility. Are you an elitist, Yani?

i think u2 have forsaken any of that after achtung baby, how
about you,
but foo never really had any, dave grohl is best as a
drummer, and i never got into massive attack.

the pendulum will soon swing toward the extreme of elitism,
and then it'll be like normal again and we'll all talk about
snares and merzbow.

but then again i dont take popularity into consideration, i
either like something or i dont.

yani, that's fun how english speaking people tend to call me
yani... i have no clue wether i'm an elitist or not but i
think masive attack are shit (saw a live show that was
absolutely awful, fake scratch and singing out of key- if i
were them i would've been so shameful i would've given up
music). to me the association of the words "artistic" and
"massive attack" is highly questionable. as for credibility
they have none. well they sell records but that's about it.
doesn't say much does it?

"to me the association of the words "artistic" and
"massive attack" is highly questionable"
to be fair,
even Kofi Anan would class that statement as "piss". Whether
they're a live act is another matter, but you cannot deny
the influence of their recorded output. And the have a lot
of credibility. In fact, which "Massive Attack" are you on
about? Some fucking Ukranian covers band?

I'd doubt massive attack would do the whole "fake
scratching" thing, although i have not seen the live show
you describe. Although i would say that after "protection"
their quality control dropped a fair way.

chalk it up to your own taste then and not popularity, hell
outkast is popular, but they sure are great artists too.

and foo fighters, although not my thing, have released some
pretty good rock.

and u2, hell i love their early stuff and still do, but just
because they are mega pop doesnt take away from their art.

The borderline mental cases mumbling "yes dale" on
supermarket sweep gave me horrible visions of nappies, whips
and other assorted sadomasochistic delights. Just thought
i'd share that.

beeing responsible for inspiring even less talented
'musicians' should put them in jail forever. ma are
ridiculous.

deepspace: by fake scratching i mean scratching when you're
less talented than me (i practiced about 2 hours and my
skills are better than theirs). scratching for the cool
effect, not for the musical output.

They're all decent bands, I don't care much for them,
though. Foo Fighters were pretty important to me in grade 7,
for sure.

I'll start a Bay City Rollers topic if one or more Bay City
Rollers fan(s) posts here in this topic within the next hour
or so.
