Yeah, but I'm wondering if it's (OSX) running on top of an emlulator that the specialised distro. of Linux that they speak of is running??
To my knowledge, you can't run OSX on an x86 machine w/o the use of an emulator?

So I'm taking it you don't care about this thread with your poo-flinging then?
Anyways. I found out how it's possible for it to run on the ol' P3. During the install, you have to use a -cpu generic option for it to work. So that means it's not optimised for x86, obviously. I'm just really surprised it even *does* work.

It uses PearPC, the x86 PPC emulator, on top of Linux. It's goddamn stupidly slow enough, ignoring the fact the Xbox only has 64MB ram (and PearPC provides 128MB, so it's going to be swapping like shit to the hard drive).
This wouldn't even be usable. It'd probably take like an hour to boot up :-(

PearPC also has to do Big Endian to Little Endian conversion and vice-versa in software mode (instead of on-chip conversion like the real PowerPC chips do) which means that you'll be lucky to run OS X at clock speeds exceeding 10MHz - and even then that's on a wazooo PC machine.
