plaid- double figure

Ross on 2002-01-24 23:04 [#00074599]

how is this album? im thinking of buying it..i dont own
anything by plaid yet, and i liked some of what ive heard
from the album, though it's a little different than the
electronic music i'd listen to, seems simpler..

Well, its shite compared to "Not for threes" and "Rest Proof
CLockwork" Get those first. I saw them live, what a couple
of wankers, they didnt even PRETEND to be clicking with
their laptops.

Ross on 2002-01-24 23:20 [#00074603]

yeah, i heard a song on my digital cable channel from rest
proof, it was really good..hmmm, i'll have to hear some more
mp3s of rest proof

Resproof Clockwork had residential status with my diskman
for almost 2 months after I bought it.

Getitgetitgetitgetitgetit.

I like double figure as well. I think tho, all the stuff I
really wasn't impressed with by plaid was on not for threes.
Exept for Extork...

Plaid leaves this ellusive playfull feeling of warmth in the
pit of your gulivah.

i dont know. i've been a Plaid fan for years, and i love
double figue. for me its an album that is played front to
back. then again all of their stuff is.

i think Double Figure is a good start.
then maybe Trainer for a history lesson. then pick up
whatever else by them you can find. theyre all good.

Ross on 2002-01-25 04:54 [#00074724]

thanks guys, im checking those albums out right now..i'll
tell you what happens, ive been so confused what to buy
lately, mogwai, some more autechre, or plaid..or maybe 2 of
those, hmm..

Hey, I just bought double figure and I absolutely love it.
It's like a mix of ICBYD and autechre. I haven't heard any
other plaid stuff yet but if they are half as good as double
figure, I'm sold!

Taoist Blockade from Vancouver Canada on 2002-01-25 17:26 [#00074878]

Wtf? Plaid is nothing like Autechre....

Buy some Mogwai man.

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-01-25 21:13 [#00074936]

the new plaid album has some ae-ish elements, but no they're
not really groups anyone on this board would (or should) mix
up. they both definitely have unique styles. anyway i like
'double figure' a lot, it's my favorite of theirs. anyone
hear anything about the new black dog album coming out? i
read it's a remix disc.

mogwai are amazing. i have played one of their songs on
every single radio show i've had so far.

Ross on 2002-01-26 02:09 [#00074989]

i ended up buying kid koala's cd instead, plaid went off my
mind when i was in the store..i own young team and my
father, my king by mogwai, good good cds..i really need to
get more though

Taoist Blockade from Vancouver Canada on 2002-01-26 16:51 [#00075081]

Get mogwai Rock Action, oooh man, so good.

Ross on 2002-01-26 21:38 [#00075124]

ive heard most of rock action, and it's so rad..sine wave is
so chaotically beautiful..my record store priced it heavily
for some reason, but i will end up buying it sometime

Jayphex from Ottawa, Can on 2002-01-26 22:23 [#00075136]

ok.... I might have messed up on the comment about plaid
sounding like ae. they have a few elements in common like
the snappy type noises. but yeah, I'm right into mogwai and
plaid right now... not very similar but both awesome.

zetre on 2002-01-26 22:55 [#00075143]

Mmm, Plaid, I love them, (so should you!).

D-Hex from KC Missouri on 2002-01-26 23:50 [#00075159]

I think double figure is much much better then restproof
clockwork,,,,so there.

zetre on 2002-01-26 23:58 [#00075161]

For me it´s the other way around.
Restproof Clockwork ,up to Pimo Pomo, is just a brilliant
album. It sort of loses it a bit from there but still: very,
very nicccccccce.

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-01-27 01:09 [#00075179]

mogwai
1. come on die young
2. ep+2 (or ep+6 if you're in the uk)
3. my father my king
4. young team
5. rock action
6. kicking a dead pig (remixes)
7. ten rapid
8. 4 satin

that's how i rank them

Mazzer on 2002-01-27 01:12 [#00075180]
