The Work of Director Michel Gondry

I know there was a lot of hype for Chris Cunningham's DVD,
but I think that Michel Gondry's DVD is maybe even a little
bit better. Michel Gondry is the Director of the recent
film 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind."

His works collection is loaded with sweet-ass videos
incuding one of my all-time favorites, 'Sugar Water' by Cibo
Matto, which is something like a visual palindrome.

Also it has a sweet ass Chemical Brothers video. I am not a
huge Chemical bros. fan but the video is wicked.

The Bjork Video's are hella sweet too.

There is such a large body of work in this collection, 300
minutes of stuff. not all of it is outstanding, but a lot
of it is mind-blowing. As a whole, the collection really
gives you a feel for Gondry's individual style.

So if you haven't seen it, you ought to check it out!!

The Gondry DVD is definitely the best of the three, but his
(effected?) quasi-childlike persona grates somewhat.

'Sugar Water' - I'm almost certain what this is. I saw this
video years ago, with two screens, one forward, one back,
right? It had a Japanese woman and the middle part where the
videos meet is at some kind of bike accident? It was
brilliant, and I've been looking for it ever since. I wasn't
really that impressed by the Cunningham DVD, but I might
have check this one out now.

yeah, thats it,

its Cibo Matto. it is one of the most brilliant videos i
have ever seen.

The DVD also has a couple White Stripes videos including
that one for 'hardest button to button' or whatever which is
also jaw droppingly amazing i thinks!!

I really like that video that is like a view out of a train
window, and all the stuff going by outside is synched to the
song. it's like some kind of crazy winamp visualization. i
can't remember what song it is though. but it was hell of
swizz!
