autechre or aphex twin?

cheech wizard on 2001-05-09 14:46 [#00005974]

is the music similar, who inspired who.......?

Arch Rival from NY on 2001-05-09 14:48 [#00005975]

Aphex eats Autechre.

Autechre was inspired by Aphex Twin.

Aphex got so many styles.

cheech wizard on 2001-05-09 14:59 [#00005978]

aphex has many styles like you say,but i reckon AE go
further than the twin can be bothered to...........i also
think afx and autechre music split roads a long time
ago........they may sound simiar to some people but they are
pretty appart.

cheech wizard on 2001-05-09 15:18 [#00005980]

autechre is the dancing version of aphex twin
i hate dancing

autechre is alot more textured than aphex. look at ae's
songs, they actually have 'gritty', 'metal', or 'slippery'
tones to them. whereas aphex is more about song structure ae
is more about molding a frequency into a textured tone.

I too am not a fan of dancing, since the day my legs
transformed into granite.

i like autechre better, i think. they regularly release
albums, for one :)
a comparison is hard to make. like you said, they both went
their own way. i love their new album, though it's not as
complicated as i thought at first. their music often tends
to be somewhat depressive, which i like. on the other hand,
aphex twin is much more versatile.

I enjoy Autechre greatly. But i would definitly say i enjoy
Aphex Twin much much more. I would agree when someone would
say Autechre is a form of Aphex Twin you could dance to..
and yes I hate dancing as well.. fuck the raves.. well the
scene here In canada is PATHETIC.. its all total repetitive
shit, and anyone can be a Dj here... its just fucking
lame... everyone is all "raved" out with the big colorful
hair and big huge baggy pants and shit... terrible.

I think these 2 sound organizers are the best there has ever
been. They are superior to the ancient composers like Mozart
because they have superior tools, computers- the only
creation of humans that has come anywhere close to the
complexity of the DNA molecule. When I listen to the tones
hanging in the air like melted gold or butter and the
organic beats that evolve (lp5- 3rd song) I clearly like
autechre better, I mean nothing can compare with this
genius. The sounds are so perfect it's like looking at
light. This concept is more about chaos and the process of
evolution and the laws of the universe than music. But then
when I hear the absolutely flawless genius work, come 2
daddy, I clearly like aphex twin better. The sounds are so
perfect, it's like looking at light. Maybe there is only one
mastermind that makes all the music for both, and this
person dislikes fame and public attention so he hired them
to act the part...

It's 50/50 for me,.. some days I like Autechre better and
others I like Aphex more,.. but at the moment I'm into
autechre,... I don't think that that either is better,..
just different in their own unique way,.. and It's not like
they're in competition with each other or anything,.. so I
doubt that their main influences include RDJ,.. the duo even
said themselves that they used to listen to jazz, trip hop
and dance,.. just not on the dance scene,.. (read some of
the articles at autechre.nu and you'll know what I mean

RECYCLE from lincoln,ne on 2001-05-13 02:54 [#00006235]

Springymajig from New Zealand (www.mp3.com/aureus) on 2001-05-13 09:47 [#00006250]

This is a stupid argument, of course Autechre are better, no
question about it.

Glitch from New Zealand on 2001-05-13 09:56 [#00006252]

daa, autechre be more complecks
but aphex twin be more childish on purpose ? but both be
making good music and weird sounds

[REFLEX] from Western Canada on 2001-05-13 09:58 [#00006255]

Its easy for people to argue.. for people to agree.. its all
simple. just opinions. to some nsyn are the best.. whatever.
IMO aphex twin is better.. but I love Ae too.. so there!

takeshi on 2001-05-13 11:43 [#00006264]

you gotta remember RDJ once said he never releases his most
difficult (complex) tracks... he figures no one will be into
them but himself...personally i'd like to see how far out he
can go

Autechwin - Come To Amber [EP]:

01 - Slip Bouncing Ball (6:43)
02 - Funny Little Montreal Man (9:36)
03 - Flim Foil (7:21)

It would've been great.
