I'm in the process of building one- 2 SATA HDs (OS/Music
Programs), 1 ATA-100 HD (Samples). 3Ghz P4 1MB Cache 800mhz
FSB. Nice soundproof case. Still not decided on soundcard,
it'll probably be the last part.

i would opt for Mac cos of it's stability,Pc's often crash
in that case, but if you don't have that kind of budget then
go for the Pc.
take as much ram as you can cos it's heavily needed for
audio processing.
plugins, harddisk data acces and recording need an amount of
ram to go smooth and without any glitches or stutters.
also, get a large harddisk space and the fastest HD u can
find cos it's essential for HD streaming.
the processor speed is ok @ 2.oGhz,but if you think u need
more then go freely ahead.
some of my mates work @ studios and they use dual processor
Pc's for better audio optimisation (one for graphics and one
for audio).

There is only one thing you need to make music. And that is
your brain.

how does it look like with the performance of macs ? i mean
i heard that a 500 mhz mac is the same as a 1000 mhz
pentium... true ??

also, is the stability the only plus for a mac ?

I'd like to see (hear) one of these "soundproof" cases...
don't they get really hot?
