Goto the mixer section, click on the drop down menu above the fader on the chanel strip of the vsti you want to effect. Select "Sends" - all the effects you have loaded will appear in boxes above the fader, switch the power on the ones you want, then drag the bar across to determine the fx level.

I thinks so yeah, so long as your reason/rebirth chanels appear on the mixer. There are other ways to apply the effects directly, using sends gives you more control over the fx levels returned, i find it works best.

Yeah... I just tried that mixer send thing and it doesn't work. All the fx options are those damn cubase plugins that aren't really effects but they say they are...

you have to load the effect first. Right click on the sequencing section where you select what type of chanel you want and insert an fx chanel. Select the effect, then it should appear in the sends section of the mixer. The midi effects you are talking about come up in another section. ( they are pretty useless if you are working with vsti)
Hope this helps, it took me ages to figure out first time around.

go to mixer and click on the "Show All Inserts" which is at the top and select an effect for the channel you want

send effects are good if you want to reduce cpu usage by "sharing" one effect for serveral channels. i mostly use reverb and delay for it.
just push F6 and select an effect ...go to mixer then "Show Send Effects" to turn it on on whatever channel you like. that's the quickest way
