well, what's going on in the goth scene....

depression, depression, self-loathing, depression,
self-loathing, depression, drugs, drugs for depression,
wearing black, drugs for self-loathing, drugs for the sake
of drugs, and suicide is in there somewhere too methinks.

I'm a bit of a Goth, at least in terms of demeanor/skin
tone/lifestyle. It's all about the Apocalyptic Folk and all
that crazy stuff. Der Blutharsch, Tony Wakeford, Current 93,
Darkwood, Ataraxia, Foresta di Ferro, Tor Lundvall, etc. At
least that's the stuff that really makes me FEEL like a
Goth. But I really don't know what they're up to nowadays.

But I think the best Goth-related product ever is Bauhaus.
They did everything right.

Current 93 rules... so so much... you should hear Volcano
the Bear if you haven't... please recommend me some
bauhaus... i have in a flat field, but i haven't listened to
it much...

You're Phaetonn on SLSK, right? I think I grabbed a Volcano
album off you once on a whim (because I liked their name,
though I'd never heard of them! You have a few of them on
there)... but I really didn't get a chance to get into it.
What's the best one?

Bauhaus- I think In the Flat Field is the best, Mask is a
close second. Sky's Gone Out and Burning from the Inside are
great too, but I think at times they deviate too far from
what they did so well. Fun, adventurous stuff, but I don't
listen to them nearly as much as Fields and Mask, they're
straightforward and hard hitting. You already have my
favorite one.

Thing I love about Bauhaus is their rythym section... a lot
of the better known Gothrock stuff back then was very rigid
and dancey, but their drummer did laid down some almost
Tool-like beats at times. They did some neat stuff on that
end.

(anyone ever hear of Tuxedo Moon? Weird '80s Goth Ambient...
I don't know much about them, other than they're totally
awesome)

I think Psychic TV might be one of those quintessentially
Goth bands, though I don't really follow ''scenes''... I DO
know that Just Drifting is in my top 10 songs of all time,
ever, and I wish Genesis did more stuff like that. And it's
SO blacknailpolish.

ahh... are you revolvergw?

i'd say their best is probably the Idea of Wood... but most
of their stuff is pretty ace... it takes a few listens to
get into, because they're sorta weird... but i love it... i
only recently realized that Tones on Tail included
ex-members of Bauhaus... Bauhaus peeps did lots of cool
things... love and rockets and such...
