TR505 as a MIDI controller?

I'm sick of using the mouse to enter my patterns in Redrum,
Fruityloops etc...can I use a MC50 or TR505 to edit my drum
patterns without the use of the mouse?
I'm totally unfamiliar with the world of drum machines but I
have read that the TR505 and MC50 have MIDI out capability.

I can't say much on the 505's MIDI sending capabilities, but
it apparantly can transmit hits on the drumpads. So it might
work.
The MC50, being a hardware sequencer, will not. It will only
control other instruments. I think you can sync FLoops or
Reason with it, the mc50 being the master, and perhaps run
drumpatterns off the 505.
I haven't done anything with syncing hardware with software
before, so I might be wrong. But I would rather get a USB
MIDI keyboard or something for the tasks you described.

Thanks for your help.
I already have MIDI keyboard which is great for controlling
softsynths via midi but not great for editing drum
patterns.
Does anyone have experience with hooking up drum machines as
controllers for PCs?
I think I might get more value for money with a
MIDI multi-fader controller instead of a drum machine.

i don't thinbk you can use the 505 for that. can u assign
keys to pattern step buttons with your keyboard?

I used control a a Casio FZ-1 sampler through a TR-505. I
had bits and pieces of 303 samples and laid out the pattern
with the 505. It works as long as you really don't need to
do too much melody, so other drums, acidy samples or if you
sample the notes of a melody.

The cool about this is the accent feature. It's not real
accent as on a real TB-303 Bassline, where the cutoff
frequency is affected by the amount of accent. The 505's
accent is only about volume, but it sounds cool because you
only have a limited level of control and eventually the
pattern sounds pretty static (in a good way).
