The whole distinction between rap/hip-hop/rnb etc is becoming increasingly blurred and while I hate most of it, I have to say it's where most musical creativity appears to be these days.

hiphop ain't dead, it's back in the underground. 6 feet under...eh, maybe it is dead.
aceyalone whacked out. krs-one went crazy.
i've never really felt m.f. doom. it sounds like he has his metal fingers stuck in his mouth when he rhymes.

I think some hip hop is good and some even quite creative like Jedi Mind Tricks, Anti-Pop Consortium, Clouddead. However, the majority of it doesn't interest me. I wouldn't say it was a creative genre, relative to some others nowadays.

Do you hate hip-hop musical form or popular hip-hop culture? I'm guessing culture.

check these people out, if you haven't already:
de la soul common mos def the roots a tribe called quest busdriver the freestyle fellowship aceyalone the pharcyde (old stuff) kool keith
etc. look for the older stuff. new stuff sucks. i don't like most of this 'indie rap' (re white shit) and any form of hip-pop sucks.

I couldn't give a damn about the culture, it's most of the music that bores me to tears, though there has been more and more stuff around lately that has been of interest.

rap is dying because of two things
1) lack of creativity - commercial hip hop / eminem / g-unit / too many people too mention - can get paid by flexing ZERO creative muscle and there are far too many people with money to waste on cd's
2) backpackers - the fucking morons who took krs-one too seriously and think there is a difference between hip hop & rap - this seems to be the only subject they tend to intelectualize and dont do a very good job at it - for everyone else (such as myself and friends) who loved hip hop before it was a TV commercial or a pop hit - we realize you can love hip hop but not be a fuck about it - and not wear ecko unlimited and rock a "knap sack" as shyheim once put it
rap / hip hop, same thing, the only people doing it right are the kids who owned original copies in the 80's
just ask buck 65
hopefully commercial rap will die, who needs it
