*back to topis*

i like ambiental stuff made by eno, and i dont like his
experiments with other genres - i think he should stick to
one convention.

it took me 4 tries and 30 minutes to 'calculate' that if (Vm
- Vc)=18 and Vm=2Vc , Vc = 18

my brain melted.

"another green world" doesn't suck, how dare you, go back
and listen to it again properly! It is one of the key
recordings in the history of ambient and electronica, mixing
avant garde pop with instrumental landscapes. You have to
listen to it as a proper album, and not skip through it on
mp3. This album is unique... "In dark trees", "Sombre
reptiles", "Spirits drifitng".... you can hear everything
that was to come in Bowie's Berlin trilogy...ambient.....
fuck, Radiohead re-recorded it 25 years later and called it
"Kid A".

altho ive only listened to it once

Well I'd say listen to the instrumental tracks first, then
go back to it as a whole, I'll admit the vocals can be a bit
folksy/woooah. It is a great album though, honestly.

If anybody wants to get into his experimental ambient and
not "the rest" (like Here Comes the Warm Jets) basically you
need to find ALL the "Ambient" series. I'm excluding here
everything related to his pop-related albums. The best is
to check these out, and go either backwards or forward in
time from about <--1980-->

--

Ambient 1 - Music for Airports (1978)
Ambient 2 - The Plateaux of Mirror (1979)
Ambient 3 - Day of Radiance (1980)
Ambient 4 - On Land (1982)

After that there's some releases within that style anybody
should get, they are :

Music for Films (1978)
Apollo Atmospheres & Soundtracks (1983)
Discreet Music (1975)
The Shutov Assembly (1992)

(1993)!

Brian Eno is great, from what I''ve heard of him.

I would recommend - Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks and
Ambient 4: On Land.

i've only gone back to revisit the pop stuff, and it's
pretty fuckin' amazing so far... Another Green World is a
fabulous album... the songwriting is just fabulous and the
way he uses the studio to manipulate his tunes into
scapes.... i can't believe it took me so long...

I find Brian Eno to be a very interesting and ejoyable
composer on the whole. He has his duds, like everyone else.

I like the Apollo thing and "Music for Airports" best.

If you like Eno, check out Robert Rich or Steve Roach.
