I like it because it at least addresses questions and
concerns that I find important, even if no so-called
existentialist thinker resolved those issues to my
satisfaction. Albert Camus is one of my favorite
existentialists, but I feel that he contradicts himself in
the end by creating a story of why we should continue living
and fighting the good fight even if we know we are all dead
men (as he maintained that we don't need such a story).

thats not a contradiction becuase he affiliates no reasons
not to continue "fighting the good fight" - thats the whole
point he was making

you think sisyphus cared?

I think he actually does create a story, and thus reasons
for continuing to live instead of simply klling oneself, in
his acceptance of his particular concept of the Absurd. To
kill oneself is to try to escape the relationship that
exists between the individual who wants answers and the mute
universe which offers him none - which Camus labels a
"cowardly" move; which in his view is "bad" or "wrong" (but
if the universe is silent on such issues, I must assume that
such a belief is the subjective product of Camus - not the
objective world in any way. . Thus, in accepting the premise
that suicide is an illegitiment action for humans to engage
in he, in the process, creates a reason to abstain from it.
Just my opinion.

It's hard not to be a nihilist.

I tried it. In rejecting everything I rejected rejection
itself and now I believe everything. damn

which is exactly why some nihilists become annoying
christians who can say they've "been there" and thus are
above all the stupid nihilists, like they somehow know
something...they know nothing, just like everyone else

/pointless angst filled post

Not really, it's just a suspension of judgement. Like not
deciding arbitrarily that truths are more valued than
untruths.

its more like: suicide is just as random and superflous as
everything else, in other words, you're already dead, so why
bother killing yourself.

Although not an existentialist, check out the forthcoming
book on Soren Kierkegaard by my former Kierkegaard professor
Sheridan Hough. She's wicked smart and Soren was wicked nuts
(but I like him).

i'm not an existenzialist. i guess i was a while back when i
read 'das sein und das nichts'

yeah, kierkegaard, that guy was crazy. would make his
girlfriend hate him because he thought he himself was such a
bad guy and then be sad for the whole life.
but he had such analyzing powers, it's impressive

philosophy does not help

we need to have proper circulation from shit back to food.
thats what we lack. the other way round, that works well,
but shit->food circle is interrupted
