Would anyone else agree.... He was once one of the rawest DJ's on the DnB scene...cut so quick and had the deepest basslines....
Now, today, he has put out an album that is a shitty "house" record....(Solaris)
I mean, It is sad to see someone with that much talent, and who put out masterpieces such as - Form + Function
or Modus Operandi....
Here's to the Good Ol Days

well..from interviews i've read by him regarding solaris...it was sort of a reaction to the current state of drum n bass...something mr parkes isnt too happy about apparently...so he decided to ditch it for a while and go back to what got him into electronic music in the first place..(ie. house)

Man, I havent read anything on this subject yet, thanks for the info...
I would have thought with his genius he would have avoided the simplicity and monotony of " house" all together....
Maybe a whole NEW direction of his style

He still make dark dnb stuff under the name SPECIAL FORCES. Photek is just house n stuff now days. Check out "Something else....The Bleeps Tune" (both versions) and "Exocet"<--Real Bassline murda!!!!!
Im a big Rupert fan and collects all his stuff. His beats are so crystall, many have tried to copy that style but hes the king of razor sharp beats.

I find it actually kinda sad.....No statement against the DnB scene should be made with "house" music.....

I have to agree, Solaris cannot hold a candle to his other works.....

haven't heard anything off Solaris yet (Time for Soulseek)...I was kinda gutted when I heard that Rupert had moved away from DnB; he was one of most creative guys in the whole scene, a real producer with real talent..There was something very pure & simple about his sound that no-one else seemed to come close to...
And don't get me started about fucking Alex Reece!!....

I think his first record under tha name Special Forces (the 12" had the same name) is one of his best tunes... Sharp Beats, Deep Perrcussion-like Bassline and strange dark strings/pads!
And on the top there is some reallly scary fx sounds!
My favorite record over all, by the way!
