i've spent most of my life in israel, and i know a little
about what it's like to live in a place where such things
happen, and i've also lived in canada to see how the 'safe'
world reacts to these things. such insidious and
testosterone-drunk comments that shroud the tragedy in fable
of stereotypes are typical of sheltered, pubescent males
able to extend their sympathy only to a nationalistic ideal
(i.e. 'we the people') but never to humanity as a whole.
what this small town is now facing is an absolute, horrific
tragedy -- they will wake up for years with a crippling
sense of loss and aimlessness -- and it breaks my heart. a
virtually identical incident (terrorists take over a school
and start executing hostages) happened in israel in the 70s,
and many of the survivors are unable to cope as adults --
many are emotionally and physically crippled for life.

as for this whole russia thing -- i'll direct this to
hyakusen especially: what the fuck has your country ever
done for civilization? i don't mean the one or two poets and
mathematicians that ran away to america as soon as they had
enough zloty for a ticket. three out of four of my
grandparents are polish jews, two are auschwitz survivors,
and boy do i have some great, great stories about poles, not
to mention a couple of relatives missing here and there.
fuck your babaric wasteland of country -- it ain't got shit
on russia.

some reasons.

and you've never had to deal with massive amounts of
murdered civilians in your community. you don't hear me
going, "ooh, poor poles, they suffered under communism,
they're all retarded anyways" -- because i don't, in
fact, know much about what it must've been like -- maybe you
should extend the curtesy and shut the fuck up about this
tragedy.

Have you tried saying this to yourself?

I suppose you either shut up or get banned. I don't want to
watch another tragedy turn into a hate fest.

The loss of the children's lifes is bad enough, yet there
may be a messageboard nazi that would disagree.

why should i shut the fuck up ? still not getting it ? for
me russians were asking for these terrorism acts - i wont
also see you going "oh, poor people in chechenia, and all
those small republics down of russia - that must be hell for
them"
all you can see is children tragedy, but you have forgotten
how many tragedies were hidden in past by russians, how
strong they have worked for the present situation.
thats the reason of my shouts now.
and, like yoou ve said - its not me who should shut the fuck
up now. after all, it is you who knows fuck abut what is
going on here. no offence but after comparing your's and
mine experience - we dont have a single thing to discuss.

lenins, stalins, and all this shit. is this really so hard
to understand ?
its alla bout people - with people decisions goverment are

know that from past russian politics were not very good, and
youve had your chance in last elections to choose ms.
Hakamada- yet still putin gets his voices in all country.

This is A Long Post:

Russia wants control over Chechnya because it is rich in
oil. This is true. Chechen rebels resent this, and hence
utilize any means that are at their disposal (hostage-taking
of children, which i imagine they thought would be foolproof
for PR reasons, i mean GOOD LORD, who's going to use the
"Special Forces" when kiddie-lives are at stake)?!

This is completely irrelevant to the issue of nationality.
Some people in government are greedy. Power over oil =
power. Full Stop. Humans are greedy. And ALL humans are
greedy for power, we just don't admit it.

Bollocks to those saying "Russians are A Big Load Of
Lame"... it is literally impossible to logically generalize
an entire nation in this way. Rulers of nations often swing
between personal gain and nationality gain (leading to
personal gain); this does not represent the whole of a
nation. There is ALWAYS dissent, and although it doesn't get
recognized in the mainstream media (particularly in
countries where the media is largely corrupt), it's friggin'
stupid to talk about all Russians being "brainwashed" or
whatever.

I'm not going to even talk about various nations' foreign
policy here, mainly because i don't know enough about it...
but the "nationality card" is completely irrelevant
regarding the politics of a country... most governments do
NOT represent the opinion of the populace, and hence their
actions cannot be interpreted as the "(x) Nation Opinion".

And that's all i have to say for now.

Uh, yeh.

Apparently so; both-sides paranoia in such a volatile
situation was always going to result in the death of
innocents, it's the Way Of Humans. Nobody wants to lose
their power over a situation, and so people are killed.

I am vaguely sure that the reason the chechen rebels took
over a school was to prevent an immediate storming by
special forces though. I imagine that they thought the PR
storm surrounding the inevitable retaliation and death would
outweigh the moral outrage over their hostage-taking.

i'm sorry for my poor english...
Oh, the whole thread is so stupid. Especially "hyakusen".
He is just the ill xenophobic man. There are a lot of ill
people like hyakusen in the world... that's true... and
that's
really sad. I live in a former USSR republic, btw... more
close to russia...
For those who think "The Russians have never been really
good at anything" I have to remind only one word - "Gagarin"
:). I think russians are just at the beginning of building
their own democracy. They
have had this terrible communism experience... but i don't
think it's the reason to hate them ! At least they have
saved the europe from fascism, napoleon and mongols.
And for chechen war.. try to think about the following:
Why only the "chechens" attack russians and other caucasus
regions ? Why all other nations who live in Russia do not
have anything against Moscow ? The "chechens" (actually the
islamic terrorists) attacked the Osettin school, not
russian!!! And some years ago they attacked the Dagestan.
And why dagestan and osettin people supported the russians
and even called them "brothers" instead of supporting
chechen "rebels" ?
They are also caucasus people, aren't they ? So maybe the
problem is much more deep than some people would like to
think. I have to say, you just too brainwashed :))
I think the best thing for Chechnya would be some EU or NATO
protectorate but not full independence. If you think
russians are barbarians why do you think the chechens are
civilized european nation ? They have already had
independence for three years and as all of you know it was
worse than Afghanistan with talibs. You know, slaves, no
social garanties, radical islam etc. I believe the
independant Chechnya at this time would be the sweet home
for Osama bin Laden. So please be patient and give the
Russia another 100 years for development of democrasy and
some more years for Chechnya.

its not well known - coz they covered the part of the wrath

why it exploded. thats the thing- its hidden.
