bogdan and chris

.mk. from barcelona on 2002-01-20 22:54 [#00072674]

i think bogdan raczynski and chris clark are the futur of
the emocional electronica.
they are both incredible and amazing. Clark hasnt done
nothing yet, he has been only experimenting, and raczynski,
well... is bogdan law...

what do you think about it?

Korben Dallas from _ on 2002-01-20 23:12 [#00072675]

Well, I've only heard Boku mo Wakaran and Samurai Math
Beats - very very fun albums - but I don't know about that
being the future.

I haven't heard the other stuff, so perhaps I'm wrong - but
it seems his stuff prescribes to the same sort of formula
the whole time .. nothing wrong with that in itself - but i
don't think he would be the future as such.

Chris Clark .. picked up Clarence Park a while back - not a
bad album .. He seems quite accomplished at the audio
molestation thing .. but I have to say, i don't quite agree
with some of the songs, like track 9 ?? - too sweet for my
liking (or too sweet to be considered the future of music).
Although I can't really talk [trying to make music myself] -
but as my mere opinion, it seems to me that his actual song
writing has to mature a little still - while he does have
huge potential!! ..

Re: the future - I reckon Autechre have been quite
consistently on the forefront, and think they shall continue
to do so.

But on the jungle frontier I think the Aphex/Squarepusher
combo could proove to be quite "futuristic" with their MEN
releases???

you should hear raczynskis "my love i love", its one of the
most emocional albums in the braindance scene.
and about clark, i think he has only released one album, but
every song on it is separatelly perfect... ( caveman lament
is better than most of saw2...)

i think that when chris clark beggins to create music
seriously he will be almost as good as the boss richard

when talking about 'emotional electronica' of the
future...dont forget cex...hes right up there with bogdan
and chris in that regard, methinks...
also, keep an eye on scott herren (prefuse73, savath and
savalas, delarosa+asora)...i have a feeling he's just
warming up...

Korben Dallas from nz on 2002-01-21 11:46 [#00072892]

yeah .. i would put my vote on Delarosa + Asora [Scott
Herren] -> tho i haven't heard any Prefuse 73.. {whats this
like compared to Savath + Savalas/Delarosa + Asora ?}

Picked up Agony pt. 1 not too long ago - incredible!

canerfold from mpls on 2002-01-21 12:21 [#00072912]

Prefuse73 is really good... among the best in the hip-hop
scene (for me at the moment). How is Scott's other work?
In what sort of styles are these other pieces of music?

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-21 12:24 [#00072914]

Chris Clark is one of the most polished artist's I've ever
heard... he's amazing. Bogdan hasn't impressed me as much...
but I haven't really gotten into him yet.

ken from ken on 2002-01-21 15:57 [#00072984]

scott herens just set up his own label as well....

wayout on 2002-01-21 19:35 [#00073064]

yeah..delarosa and asora is really great...so its sad that
he's decided to discontinue that project...but on the
upside, he said he discontinued it so he could concentrate
more on prefuse and savath...focusing more of his ideas on
those two projects...rather than spread them out over
three..

wayout on 2002-01-21 19:41 [#00073070]

canerfold: the delarosa stuff is like sorta
jazzy-downtempo-ish 'post rock' mixed with glitchy/clicky
beats...a bit like phonecia's style beats...if you've ever
heard them..

the savath stuff is really mellow, jazzy stuff on mostly
live instruments...with some atmospheric electronic stuff
mixed in

all quite nice
