Spyware problem!

I have a spyware problem... I've scanned with my virus
scanner, scanned with Ad-aware, and scanned with Spy-Bot,
AND a Shredder program I have... I've searched through my
registry a bit and searched my computer for anything that
looked suspect with no solution... I wonder if someone can
suggest any other spyware programs I might try, or possibly
help me figure this out...

what the problem is is not that serious I don't think, but
it's an annoyance... when I open internet explorer, my main
page is changed to this weird search site... one of those
things which is disguised to look like a legitimate site,
but is really a porno search thing... and immediately after
I open explorer, a popup opens telling me about anti-spyware
stuff... how ironic huh? Anyways, so I go and close
explorer, go into internet properties and change my main
page back to what it was... then when I open explorer it's
fine... but, I still get the popup, and then when I go to
open explorer the second time, it's back to the other page,
the disguised porno search page... all it says up in the
address bar is "about:blank"...

the page also says Home Search up in the top left hand
corner, and has what looks like the microsoft windows logo
next to that... although I don't think this is a microsoft
thing...

any help would be appreciated... I've been trying to clear
this off all day with no results...

i have exactly the same problem and no spyware removal
software has helped at all, and ive tried about 8 or so. but
i figured it was a good excuse to stop using IE and move on
to firefox. but yeah, nothing has helped, its been this way
for months.

that sounds like a virus i had called "StartPage" - it
resets your internet explorer page to one of a hacker's
choosing. Just a guess, but try an anti-virus scan.

Windows XP? Have you tried installing Service Pack 2, or
the Google Toolbar to stop the pop-ups, then try Adware SE
Personal to get rid of the stuff. I have a load of friends
with this problem, this has worked for some of them....

I found the files on ad-aware... got rid of them... but then
I scanned again just as a precaution, and they were there
again...

I think I found a possible solution... when I used Ad-aware,
the four registry entries, where the spyware added new
things to the registry, came up... but, apparently there are
two dll files which are also part of this... one of which is
supposedly hidden... so, I found instructions on how to
remove it, and will give it a go... looks complicated
though...

pOgO: I sucked on it too much!

and it makes sense, cause if I just deleted the registry
entries, while the files were still left on my computer, it
would make sense that the files would just re-add the
entries to the registry... or whatever it does... which is
how I figured this was working anyways...

now to uncover the files!

"hijack this" is a good program for if stuff like your
homepage gets taken over. it lets you look at many settings
in internet explorer, and reset them.

errrrrrr .dll files i'd make sure they aren't important
before you delete them.

does this webpage have a certain name? if so, you might want
to search for a specific remover tool for it. this is the
case for certain spyware/crap that can get on your computer.
