at least for couple of months...i spent my whole life in the same city, it's capital, but only about 300.000 citizens. lately i find it a bit depresing...nothing much is happening, it's very quiet, and you bump into same people every day...
i want to try out a city with +2.000.000... if i could pick a city to live in at the moment, london would probably be my #1 pick, then paris, new york, barcelona...hmm
any of you ever think of that?

i live in a really dirty/expensive one full of dollybirds and scumbags.
I'd prefer NY or London.. My popslives in Paris so i know it quite well an love it to bits.
Been to barcelona 3 times but only scratched the surface really.
However.... i want my next trip away to be as far away from civialization as possible.

im constantly having this feeling im missing out coz of this...
i always thought oposite of dublin...i haven't been there, but i heard it's a really lovely city, quiet in a way, but also with plenty things to do as it's a big city.
new york would be awesome to live in, but i don't have the money for that right now...

that's one option, but the impression i got from suburbs is pretty terrible...quite depressing as well. it just isn't the same as living in the city.
funny thing is, i could easily live in some small village as well...a man of extremes i guess :)

suburbia is the pits. i live a perfect 30 mins walk from the city center... not too near, not too far
Worst place i ever was was Slough, where the Office is set, for a week long programming course. Jesus it was dismal and grey and just the worst place ever... perfect for the Office. You just knew people living there were the saddest fuckers ever.

new york can be overwhelmingly large, and you get a real sense of anonymity there unless you really go out of your way to find people. any huge city is like that though. if i were you, i'd find a midsize city with a nice amount of things to do but not absolutely huge either.
london seemed nice when i went there, not quite as all encompassing as new york or tokyo.

i live in a little island who's population was 12,604 two years ago. it's probably gone up a thousand since then. it's also a shore residency so about half of these people aren't here year round.
i rarely go anywhere without seeing someone i know. i don't like it at all.

I also want to live in a big city for a while. I've always been fascinated with movies from big cities like Tokyo and NY, where people seem to be so lost and lonely between all the people and the neon-signs in the big city. It could have been cool for a while, but I can't really imagine to settle in a big city.
BTW; I live in a city/town with 150.000, and I see new faces all the time :)

+ convenient + variety + sometimes are quality great
however,
- expensive - often dirty - can deliver minor claustrophobia (not just indoors, but outdoors since the view is obstructed)

it's always good to live in different locations. thing is, if you've never lived in a big city before, it's probably a good experience living in one for a while, but more than likely you'll tire of it; and of course, vice versa applies, too.

I'd like to try a big city for maybe one semester or something.. and I'm planning on taking a year of my studies in china, but I don't think I'd ever go live in a big city...

im from australia and living in london at the moment
just got back from a holiday in sweden, which reminded me of being back in oz
london really is a hole
it's like going back in time and it's just fucking filthy
also 1 in 20 people you see in the streets is a bum or just fucking mental
i guess there are much worse places, and i'm just having a winge coz i'm used to nicer ones
the money here is good though, so i'm here for a bit
just have to try not breathe too much of the air
