I've been listening to this a lot the last few days, and damn it's good... I really love soundtracks, cause the main focus is on the mood and stuff, and creating the atmosphere...

I've been watching Koyaanisquatsi for the first time this week on a semi-decent home cinema setup (better than my laptop). And yeah, it's def.about mood and stuff and creating an atmosphere.
I have powaaquatsi too (10 quid for both dvds at fopp) - I heard there's a third one ; Am i correct ?

i got apollo atmospheres and soundtracks a while ago when 'traffic' came out (which also used 'ascent (an ending)' -- which i totally love) and was really disappointed with it. nothing memorable other than that one track.

Check out Baraka as well if you like Koyaanisquatsi etc...similar kinda vibe..
All about the rhythms & pulses of life, rather than having any particular narrative...

There's a complete bootleg of Vangelis' 1492:CoP that's available, and it's very very nice. Some FX, alas.

Yeah, I'm a longtime follower of Vangelis... funniest thing I found is how everyone seems to know "Chariots of Fire" but few can name Vangelis. I wonder why that is?

I don't much like the Chariots of Fire soundtrack... the main theme is real nice though!

i love the bladerunner soundtrack, aside from that, ive only vangelis on hearts of space, they had a 1 hour retrospective on his career, some really good stuff.
as funkmaster was saying about focusing on moods and atmospheres for sountracks, the movie Ravenous had a great score that fit the film really well.
