leter, if anyone ever looks back at this thread, and you
have a different avatar, it wont make any sense.
you must leave it as it is forever.

me, whatever the avatar.

i dunno. this sort of marks for me the album that made me
sick of bjork. but that probably has to do with my
personally being oversaturated with her sound than anything
intrinsic to the album.

offline uzim on 2004-09-01 19:12 [#01321017]
Points: 17716 Status: Lurker

i think it's a good album, and interesting, but not as good
as Post, Homogenic or Vespertine (Vespertine = my
favourite).

fans probably won't be disappointed (i know a girl who's
crazy about Björk and she loves Medúlla as well), but if
you're just a casual listener, it's not an
essential/"must-have" album.

Is it really strange or is it sort of the same sound she has
always had? I hope it's out there.

offline zaphod from the metaverse on 2004-09-01 19:15 [#01321027]
Points: 4428 Status: Addict

it sounds like pagan poetry and other songs on vespertine
taken to their logical extreme.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2004-09-01 19:15 [#01321028]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

it's not strange, just a bit boring i think. nothing
outstanding...

offline zaphod from the metaverse on 2004-09-01 19:22 [#01321037]

who is it, oceania, mouths cradle, and pleasure is all mine
are atleast as good as anything on vespertine, but i can see
where someone wouldn't like it.
great music always manages to also be annoying at times, and
bjork is definitely one of the more annoying artists i can
think of. i couldn't stand most of vespertine when i first
heard it, and i figured this one would be the same way, but
i'm liking it right off the bat. maybe i'll get sick of it
in time, but her albums have always kept me interested.

which track did the guy from ensemble do?

offline uzim on 2004-09-01 19:27 [#01321047]

it's mostly the same type of music, don't expect Autechrian
or Coilesque oddities (one track is glitchy, almost à la
Oval...), but it does have a strange twist. = )

only two, three or four songs really stand out and stay in
your head though. not that the rest is bad nor anything, but
don't expect a massive blow-away with lots of catchy songs.

Just got it yesterday, excelent so far... probably not as
consistent as her last couple of records but sometimes thats
a good thing. I'll have to listen to it a lot more but I
think its definately one of her best albums so far.

Can't wait to see what she'll come up with next, which
shouldn't be too long as she's not touring.

At first listen I got the idea it would. It just seems like
so much to digest.

It sounds good so far. The best thing about it is that is
pretty unique work. I was surprised to find that out... this
album actually hasn't been done before.
