How many groups have produced this much incredible music?
Very, very few. Although they may have fallen off in recent
years - why not take a trip down memory lane and enjoy some
of the sickest hip hop ever produced.

Enter the 36 Chambers
--------------------------
The one that started it all. Incredible dark production.
One of the most influential albums ever. 10/10

Forever
---------
I don't think this one gets the recognition it deserves. Of
course it's 2 CDs full of great tunes. I could do without
'Black Shampoo' though. 9/10

GZA Liquid Swords
----------------------
4th Chamber is just the most ridiculous track. Shadowboxin
and B.I.B.L.E. are incredible too. 10/10

Raekwon Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
--------------------------------------
Incarcerated Scarfaces, Verbal Intercourse - another perfect
album. 10/10

Ghostface Ironman
----------------------
Ghostface is my favourite of the Wu lyricists. So I'm a tad
biased. I love this record - in my top 3 hip hop albums of
all time. 10/10

Ghostface Supreme Clientele
---------------------------------
Near perfection. Get 'One', 'Apollo Kids' or 'Wu Banga'
Another fav. of mine. 9/10

Ghostface Pretty Toney Album
-----------------------------------
This maybe the best major label hip hop release this year.
Some stellar tracks and a couple not so stellar 8.5/10

...........................................................
..............................
That's my 2 cents.

rap is one of the best genres, but the wu tang clan was the
favourite band of those stupid basketball-geeks in the 8th -
10th grade, so i never checked them out.

I don't consider pretty tone a wu-tang album. it's an album
made by a guy that was/is in the clan

gza put it perfectly: the wu-tang solo albums aren't at all
solo projects.. theyre wu-tang clan albums with the focus on
one particular member

that hadn't been true starting 1999 and ending with.. hmm my
favorite member's "No Said Date" this june.

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat
on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was
given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill
with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the
beasts of the earth. Get on AIM you!

i enjoy their older stuff quite a bit, one might even say i
luv it. but, i think they let the fame start to get to them
during/after forever and glamed out pretty hard.

p.s. meth & redman's tv show is so bad it makes me
embarassed for them.

Kanye is dope but he doesn't hold a candle to the RZA in his
prime. That's not taking anything away from Kanye. His
beats are dope but the jury is still out. He hasn't
produced enough yet.

RZA razor sharp!

there is just as much good and bad now as there was back
then.. It's harder to find but it's still there. Wu-Tang,
however, have become legendary, and are therefore outside of
regular music, and rather in the hall of fame... you can't
compare regular rap/hip-hop acts to them anymore 'cause the
acts you compare them with will always loose!

wu-tang was more relevant for me, and likely a whole lot of
people, back in the mid 90s when most of us were that much
more ignorant about hip hop.

they had some good one-liners, they had at the time pretty
damn groundbreaking production by rza (well, the style broke
gorund i spose) but i grew tired of them, as you can only
sing CREAM so many times.

still, i'd be willing to venture out on a limb and guess
that most of us can flash back to certain times and places
lodged in our memories that we reconnect with thanks to
hearing the 'tang.

as introductory hip hop, wu-tang is solid... i think thats
where they got their multiplatinum niche... hiphopn00bs tend
to get the most out of the tangers.

for example, rza's a solid producer, but i dont think he
really can hold a candle to peeps like the herbaliser,
prince paul, or even jel when he gets in a groove.

I'd say wu is pretty wide in who they appeal to.. I'm a
longtime hip-hop head, and they still hold their own to me!
RZAs production is top-fucking-notch, and there are few who
even rival him!

well, of course like any musical thing, its going to come
down to one's tastes.

i think rza is a good starting point for people to venture
out of the realm of chingafied beats and into actual hip hop
(you knoiw... where people RAP)

well, you know how there's a bunch of crap rotating around
the top 40... lil john often screams, people like chingy
keep sayin THURRRRR and stuff, and a lot of them just talk
shit bob up and down in videos and stuff.

i like it when people RAP, meanin, you know, come with a
flow. when they actually have skills and style.

say what you want about him, but tupac rapped. eminem
rapped on that first album he got big with (the slim shady
LP?) but after that he got paid to shout, sing, and make
skits. outkast, when on a rap track and not doin stuff
like hey ya, raps.

not like lil jon or even a 50 cent where its kind of
retardedly straightforward jiggy crap.

i hate to sound cliche in sayin it, but i like the straight
up (dare i say "real") hip hop

I'm still reeling from your assertion that the Herbaliser
production was/is, at any time, better than RZA's ;)

Stoupe and JMT's Violent By Design was amazing - but the
latest (Visions of Ghandi) bites.

Right now, I love 9th Wonder's production. His remix album
"God's Stepson" is dope as hell. (My only complaint is that
he used the clean vocal tracks so all the tracks have the
profanity removed.) He's heavily influenced by Pete Rock.
Soulful shit.
