i have 'atol scrap', 'tides', and the arovane_phenom collaboration 'aer (valid)'.
i love them all, but 'aer (valid)' is definately my favourite.
'atol scrap' tends to be panned as an autechre clone, but i still like it lots.

atol scrap- good quality sound like autechre but i don't like the direction they took it very much. They use melodies more than your average bear but the song builds up then doesn't glitch or anything, it just stays the same as a wall of sound, so it serves as a sort of complex ambient backdrop because you can tell what's going to happen from what is currently happening, so it doesn't keep your interest.

plus they use "reverb" like on every track. reverb sounds good for awhile, but it just becomes an easy way to make the sound more detailed, and eventually becomes annoying.

i guess it just works for me because i don't expect so much from the music to begin with; 'idm' (for lack of a better term) isn't my primary interest in music.
i'm sure once i learn more about the genre i'll see what you mean.
