..offering a very impressive catalogue of just about every liveshow they do, at a price that you would pay for a bootlegged cd-set?
if you're a Metallica-fan, that must be pretty nice.

that would be nice, yes.
on the other hand, you don't have to buy it.
and again, if you're a fan, this must be pretty good.

their show tickets are very pricey, they sold plenty of releases in their past, they sell lots of other products related to them, now this...it looks like they're into music mainly coz of money now...

Actually, this looks like a pretty sweet deal if you're a Metallica fan. Their shows are always really long, and quite good. 10 bucks, you'll get your money's worth. And like Leaky said, it's not like there hasn't been other artists that have done this.
That being said... 10 bucks is quite a lot, for ONES AND ZEROES. No more than you'd pay on Itunes or something like that, but... Metallica is pretty fucking rich. My feelings are mixed, because they're NOT ripping people off here... and on the other hand, they could afford to give this stuff away.

that's a pretty strange use of logic, though.
they have lots of money, so now they should start giving away their music. as if people are somehow entitled to something, because a band has become rich.
it would be nice of them to give them away, but that's all. it's pretty normal to ask money for this kind of stuff.
you could see this in a negative way, or in a positive way: a huge database of live music for the fans.

but it's obvious to you that they want money out of their music, right?
as far as i know their fan base got much smaller than it used to be...mainyl coz of their greedines...maybe they'd get more money out of it if they'd be nicer to their fans and that way it wouldn't be so obvious they're init just for the money.

I don't really see why people give Metallica such a hard time... people downloaded their music, which is stealing... so people stole their music, which they worked hard on and put lots of time and money into, and they didn't like it... I wouldn't either, and niether would most people... I don't get people who somehow seem to think that the ability to download music is their God given right... no it's not...

no it's not, but assuming that everyone that downloads your music is also stealing your music, is pretty bad and retarded too. it's automatically saying your fans are thieves, even if they just download it to preview.
that's why people got angry and I can fully see why.

File-sharing is a great example of an abstract human concept meeting physical reality head-on and losing, as it always will.
