Anybody here heard of Art of Noise? I'm surprised I found absolutely nothing when I searched for it on this mb, actually.
Thoughts?

Riiiiighht, I think they deserve slightly better than this. The Art of Noise were pioneers of sampling, tape splicing, utilising a very expensive studio and took in influences (and influenced greatly) hip hop, the situationist avant garde and pop music. I very much recommend their first ep "Into Battle.." and the first album "Who's afraid of the art of noise" from 1984, both are very ecclectic mixes of post-modern electronica, instrumental hip-hop and atmospheric sound collages. After this, I still like the next two albums "In no sense nonsense" and "In visible silence" but after that it went a bit too commercial and the coffee table drum'n'bass album was just a step too far.

Please don't buy anything them other than "Into battle with tha Art of Noise" (83) "Who's afraid of the Art of Noise)" (84) "In Visible Silence" (86) "In no sense nonsense" (87) All are great mixes of styles, genuinely unique, expeirmental music. But the amount of people you hear say, like IsnieZot, that they've only heard the classic drum and bass abomination, or the remix album.... I hope they realise how they thoroughly fucked up their legacy with those releases.

I've also unfortunatly only have heard the Prodigy remix of "Instruments of Darkness." That use to be my favorite remix back in the day. Great song, I love how it starts off.
