Just saw this movie on the weekend. Its an lo-fi arthouse
thingy by Vincent Gallo who's got an album on Warp - (thats
why I got it)

Its pretty cool. Ok the basic story is a tad far-fetched but
then its not a real story-driven piece but a moody abstract
montage of americana imagery with really fucking cool
lighting and an excellent soundtrack. Gallo has got real
presence and the film reminded me of Vim Venders "Paris
Texas" - one of me all time faves, or the Coen Bro's "Blood
Simple" in atmosphere and mood.

another thing, during the film in the shootout/stripclub
scene, there's a funky ass kicking tune that Squarepusher
plays on his 96 breezeblock set. Who the fuck is this by?
Gallo himself? checked the soundtrack but couldnt find a
sample of it to hear. Maybe its by "Yes". Does anyone know?

found it "Heart Of The Sunrise" - by Yes. A fucking gorgeous
jazzy track played by squarepusher on the breezeblock '96.

I'd guess: "a house with art in it" ( = museum)

its when the "house" ie the cinema is filled with people who
would rather see something as art than a traditional film

I didn't think Buffalo '66 was very artsy, just very well
done. I watched it twice in 2 days because I liked it so
much...

"PI" on the other hand... that was artsy and gave me a
terrible headache and I almost needed to vomit with these
crazy cameramovements and black/white combination.

jesus.... arthouse, indie, lo-fi, non-mainstream etc e...you
get the gist....

i watched it twice too- love the colours and the editing and
the peripheral characters. The freeze-frame shootout piece
was incredible and a perfect example of using it in just the
right context. Was Gallo the first to do this? It was 1998
after all.

Gallo looks extremely haunting on the
posters/advertisements/packaging. Really creepy, his eyes
are tools of the Devil.

apperantly he's quite aware of that. in some interview, he
said he knows he's ugly...the interviewer replied that women
find him attractive.

he looks great with beard though :)

i have huge excitement for his new film: the brown bunny.
him and chloe sevigny. again he wrote, directed and starred
in this film....it played at cannes last year., many said it
was the worst film ever shown, i believe it was still good.
it was in an unfinisheed state. gallo vowed to never work
again. he put a curse on roger ebert after he said nasty
things. it was quite a lot of excitement, it is now
finished. it has played in asia, the trailer is beautiful
beautiful

gallo is a genious his music is gorgeous. the brown bunny
plays in august in new york so does he.
thank you

apparently Chloe Sevigny sucks off Gallo in the film, on
camera. and it isn't acted.

if I remember correctly, afterwards Sevigny felt Gallo had
abused her, she never really wanted to do it, something like
that.

even Gallo has come out and said himself that the film
sucks. that crazy, overrated hipster (himself doing the most
of the overrating, btw)..

he walked in to booing for his press conference but left
under applause, wich is cool.
apparently after cannes he went on to change bits and edit
it.

like the music we love.. who gives 2 fucks bout the hype. if
it appeals to me, like B66, cool... if not...no worries.

(the real-felatio angle is a bit titilating though...got to
be done i guess!)

that's kind of funny, because Gallo himself does seem to
love the hype, being very instrumental in creating it. the.

hmm... i couldn't tell if the trailler looked really nice,
or like total pretentious wank. i kept thinking easy
rider
lo fi handheld and whatnot.

i'm really curious now.

could you offer a bit more info? link?

i wouldn't know where to look for a link, a mate of mine is
a radio journalist and he was there. and he said there was
booing but that in the end they applauded him !! (though not
the film i think :) )
