my favourite decepticon was Soundwave because he had the
coolest voice, he turned into a cassete player & he had
cassetes that turned into little transformers......... my
favourite autobot was Jazz because he he was a porche 911
among other things...... he had a white paint job you could
tell he was really black underneath, maybe he was the
Micheal Jackson of Transformers.

I had optimus prime but I always wanted a first edition
megatron, the one I had came out a bit later & he was more
of a lazer gun than a proper gun with a scope & a silencer.

Starscream, most definitely. I used to love his charismatic
personality, and of course his betrayals and takeover bids.
And I used to wonder WHY Megatron put up with his shit...

i will have to agree with you on that, starscream was hands
down the best transformer.

of course, we could broaden this thread to include favorite
he-man and gi joe charaters, mine would be
skeletor
snake eyes

i don't remember their names, and i rarely saw the
cartoon... maybe only twice.

the mostly white one with red accents that turned into the
jet. i had the diecast action figure.

diecast transformers ruled so much.

Grimlock. Dumber as a rock, but harder and stronger than a
mountain. With shiny metal teeth sharper than a wicked
rabbit's incisors.

The voice modulation and effects were way cool. Although I
think Starscream was Chris Latta's twisted voice, no effects
added :P RIP

Ah, Soundwave... that a vocoder on him?

I gotta say the voice casting was so good and stands to this
day. Heck, even Dieselboy got Peter Cullen (aka Optimus) to
do the intro for his Dungeonmaster's Guide mix CD... and how
fitting it is. The world of Advanced D & B... LOL! :)

i like the black tape that turned into a cat, camwe out of
soundwave, what was it's name: Laserjaw or something?

You know they had to ban the orginal megatron that looked
like a nice chunky silver gun as someone robbed a bank with
it. This is true it happened in Queensland, Australia.

Now what was that cats name?

offhand, i can recall one of Soundwave's cassettes that made
only one appearance, and it went by the name of Autoscout...
but that wasn't it. the one you refer to was actually a
panther, and it went by the name of Ravage. :D

Ravage was obviously favored by Soundwave. though Ravage
always seemed to be used as a public relations type, who had
to deal with humans.

unicron was a bad-arse transformer, on another level to the
squabbling autobots/decepticons, but I did like grimlock. I
thought the toys were rather naff though. I had jazz, and
when you tried to make a car out of him, he just fell apart.

of the cartoon show, Starscream was definately my fave. I
had a shitload of the actual transformer action figures
though, and those things were wicked beyond anything in the
cartoon show. Oh, and my friend had the Soundwave (complete
with little cassete transformer) action figure.
