you know, those things msn messenger creates for chatlogs.
This puter chooses IE to view the files, but i dont know if
other apps. are suitable for it also.

quite a few people i know are uanable to open these files,
even though they are running windows XP and i'm guessing IE
5 in most cases.

Is there a plugin for these files?

i could absolutely be wrong, but i thought xml files were
just text files. or, you mean something that interprets the
xml tags in the way a browser does the html tags?

oh. well you could be absolutely right. what the browser
does, is, instead of just displaying a heap of text, it
creates a layout, somewhat similar to msn convos, for easier
viewing.

theres also date and time included (dont fit on pic), and it
switches to a different colour, after you close the window
and a 'new' convo begins.

maybe their problem is that the xml file extension isn't
associated with the browser for some reason. i don't think a
separate plugin is required. they could try opening them up
directly (File...Open...Browse on IE). but, i don't actually
know too much about xml, just trying to reason it out :)

xml files are pure text files similar to html (xhtml is
actually a subset of xml). As such you can use any program
capable of displaying text files to view them, although ie
will format normal text files in collapsable format for
easier viewing.

If you know xsl you can create your own style sheets to
display the xml file any way you want...which is what is
happening with the MSN thing you attached above.

I suppose someone somewhere has developed an MSN viewer
which displays the xml files in other ways...I dunno because
I'm not interested :D
