hey you! fan of things forward and experimental and
noisy/quiet... isn't it about time you heard yrself so EAI
(electroacoustic improv)?
hows abouts I sucks you in by recommending some records that
Fennesz is on (did you know that Fenno'Berg is improvised?
pretty sweet and exciting for the future of music, and
electronic music performance, innit?):

Album on Charizma featuring Werner Dafeldecker, Christof
Kurzmann, Christian Fennesz, Kevin Drumm, Jim O'Rourke, and
Martin Siewert... very dark noise-droney... but not too
noisy, probably one of the more immediately accessible ones
for fans of industrial ambient experimental shit...
Polwechsel and Fennesz-Wrapped Islands... a lot more austere and
quiet... but very beautiful, rewards a great deal upon
repeat listens...

Keith Rowe and Fennesz-Live at the LU... released right around the
same time as Venice... much much more noisy...

just over the horizon, buttercup...
forthcoming on Erstwhile:
Four Gentlemen of the Guitar, featuring Keith Rowe, Oren
Ambarchi, Christian Fennesz, and Toshimaru Nakamura...

so uh yeah... Fennesz is definitely not the best in this
field, not by a long shot... but he's probably a pretty
common starting point (he was for me) into this sort of
thing... i'm so lonely... but don't do it for me... do it
fer yrself...

Sounds good, cheers for the heads up. I was gonna buy a mika
vainio & fennesz collaboration from the pompidou centre when
i was on hols, but alas, i was a little short on cash. Btw,
do you know anything about The Necks? I heard a 60-min or so
live improv set on radio 3 (uk) aaaages ago, and always
meant to investigate. It was hella good.

i've heard good things about 'em... but never heard
nuffin... i haven't heard much of the Vainio and Fennesz...
but most of the albums on audiosphere are pretty excellent
(Ambarchi/Muller/Voice Crack, Deupree/Willits, and my
favourite: Jan Jelinek/Computer Soup)... and i do recall
enjoying what i did hear...
