This isn't quite finished, I don't think, however I would
welcome comments even if they are of the "this is shit"
variety. My great music loves are Detroit and Indie 88-92.
And the soundtrack to Jackass. And currently the band
Cultural Amnesia. This is Stag Light.

..Withnail sample..? nice. :)

nice melody. although I think that bell-like thing mixed to
the left is more interesting than that main melody-line. the
bass drops in nice.

I like how the whole thing sounds like it's clipping to hell
and back. :)

I think you could do much better with the percussion - it's
kind of bland, sounds a bit generic. you could replace
percussive sounds, build up, take away, etc. could be very
nice. make it more distinct in that aspect.

nice work (eventhough Jackass really sucks).

You really are quite marvellous having listened and reported
back so, with such useful advice. I have a terrible weakness
for cheapy sounding drums, I know I want the drums to sound
"killer" so I shall take on board your wise words. I have a
terrible weakness for Jackass too, though I think it's
because I don't have any friends.

the melody is pretty simple and that works well, I think
some inventive percussive work could really lift this track,
give it just that bit of intricacy that would really make it
work.

sounds like you should spend some quality time with a
program that'll let you design your sounds, like
SoundForge..! :P

Basically i want to get in there and write the theme tune to
the Miami Vice movie before it's actually made.

SORRY.. BROKEN SHIFT BUTTON...

hmm.. it seems that having caps-lock on neutralizes the
effect of the shift button...

thanks for swinging the gears around your head so that my
thoughts were initialized.

You can shout "QUITE GOOD" in my thread anytime, how about
next time yelling "REALLY EXCEPTIONAL"?

it reminded me fennesz at a start, nice pads, and i liked
the voice at start. its a nice track, i would like to listen
to it finished before saying more. plus i would change the
beat, make it bit deeper.
its ok, but i will wait till its finished.

Having now listened with both of my ears I would have to
conclude that I really like this track. I actually like the
percussion the way it is. It's the way dance music used to
be before it slipped into "it's shit unless you have snare
rolls every 5 seconds" drill. Nice work.

"quite good" was, like a "get off your lazy ass and finish
the track!!! NOW! then, you'll get an 'AWESOME!'"

I will finish it, I am spurned on by your encouragement and
open ears, and I appreciate what you all say. I am glad
about what Mr Ecnadniarb has said because that's how I feel,
I know the beats and melodies have mutate and change to
engage the listener over 3 minutes, but at the same time I
don't really like wilfully stop-start, IDM musicians fear of
a regular beat lasting more than one bar. But then I never
did like jazz, I like INDIE.

you misunderstand me. I never said I wanted you to go all
glitchy with the beats, but the percussion sounds themselves
are pretty bland. I'm talking about the sound, not so much
the rhythm itself. wahoo etc.

Oh sorry old boy, I wasn't referring to your comments or
indeed anyone elses, I just mean in general, you know,
kerazy rhythms just for the sake of. Your advice is
sterling and has been locked into the MUSIC GENERATING
SOFTWARE part of my brain loob. Wahoooo.

Umm helpful comments in my view. Maybe less of the fizzy? It
may just be me but I don't like so much fizz. A reasonable
amount is good though. Funny little "stuff it up your arse"
clip, I like that, you'll wanna keep that. I think that the
percussion maybe should fit in more with the mood of the
track. I would like to hear some crazyness too with the
beats. It's a solid track and I'm sure many out there will
enjoy it, at this stage of it's development or in the
future, but it's not totally my cup of tea. That's alright
though, because you're not trying to please my ears. My ears
are worthless.

I think you've got great ears, there IS too much fizz. I
think I let this slip too early, it's one of those occasions
when you're working on something and you think "Hang on,
you're a bit tasty at this, NICE ONE" and then the next day
you go "Oh, what was I on about?". So I just thought I'd see
what the keen ears of XLT might pick up, and they've not let
me down.

Me and a shadowy band of loosely connected though

don't worry.
