It was good, but no where near as good as his set at last
year's Rephlex party. It was great to hear a set from him
again, he played, unlike usual, alot of his own stuff:

Garden of Limiri
54 Cymru Beats
and a few more tracksw off of drukQs

he started out with some noise that was good. Although the
majority of his set was similar stuff he really fucking got
great towards the end, jungle and made drill n' bass, he is
still amazing.

probably Squarepusher for me. The other time i saw a proper
live show his equipment failed. Clayfighter got bored with
both sets.

Squarepusher played:
Dimontone Co.
Anstromn Feck 4
Chin Hippy (an extended version)
Steinbolt
Tetra-Sync
Come on My Selector
A Journey to Reedham

The rest was amazing bass improvisation

In the very centre of that photo (the one with keyfumbler
arrowed on it) is me, looking straight at the camera, just
above the guy with the light yellow shirt.

i slept for 15 hours yesterday, glade proper knackered me.

didn't get to meet many xlt peeps unfortunately - was
catching up with people from uni i hadn't seen in ages
thurs/fri, then my phone died on the saturday and i couldn't
remember where p0g0's tent was :(

plaid were awesome (would've been better suited to an
outdoor stage though), squarepusher i thought was so-so.
some bits - like the drum solo played on bass guitar - were
absolutely amazing, but so much was just self-indulgent
guitar noodling, directionless and oblivious of its
audience. and why did he have to hide behind his laptop when
he was playing guitar? why are electronica artists so
performance shy?!

i missed afx cos i was fucked, tripping out in the solar
chill UV-lit mushroom garden for 2 hours. haha shit happens.

Hayyyy!!!

Where to start?
Murray... sound fucking fellow altogether. He told me i'd
enjoy squarepusher and i certainly bloody did that. I was
off me face on mushrooms as was Ems, my ex, who basically
had a friggin 20 minute orgasm during his set... i'm not
kidding.... She fucking bawled her eyes out afterwards too.
The sight of AFX serenely twiddling knobs and toking up
topped it all off for her and we ended up collapsed in our
tents embraced in a swirl of shroom-filled tender
togetherness. Yes!

pOgO and Clayfighter were a right laugh. Clay... you are one
tough cookie and i can't wait to see yer little movie. pOgO
freaked everyone with her black tongue, no voice and freaky
bear-mask - she also looked positively silver at nightime.
We escaped from her weirdness with Tom (forget his xlt name)
to the mushroom field where somebody was giving out some
amazing potions called "Chi". I don't know what was in that
stuff but, christ, it got the blood going no-end and again
meself and Ems couldn't keep our hands offf each other.
Score!

Ceephax was off the wall acid craziness. Musically it was a
bit too acidty for me but he was having a good laugh and the
atmosphere was great for 1pm.

Mu-ziq was absolutely banging and you wanna see his kid
dance to the music. with the rest of the crowd... fucking
incredible

Cylob: Wasn't crazy bout his laptop stuff, prefering his
DJing but it had some nice bits n pieces in there with a few
old tracks (no "Diof" though)

DJ Ned.. was definely the glue that held the Warp boys
togther. He plays absolutely amazing music. Defo check out
his warpmix at warprecords.com

The Egg: never heard them but they were definitely the
happiest, blissed out artists there. I was personally there
for the darker stuff but is was lovely to see a band that
played really upbeat summer music. Recomended!

Squarepusher:
100% fucking magic. Every bit of his set dripped with
quality energy. I knew what to expect from hearing the Tokyo
set but really, when you're there, he totally takes you on a
journey. The lighshow was sooo goood too. The amount of
times we found ourselves completely engulfed in mist and
white light, about to be sonically probed by his alien
bassship! Truley a master.

AFX:
I was pretty fukded during this set so can't remember much.
Ems recognised loads of drukqs and SAW stuff but i was
totally tripping at this stage so .... but it 2was really
subtle stuff and got nice n heavy near the end. The visiuals
were nice and dark and twisted too.

Mira Calix:
A gorgeous DJ set with autechre and BoC tunes mixed the Mira
Calix way. Beautifull. Ems was queuing for the showers
during this, she would have loved it.

haha glad you got some ex-gf joy, mushroom-induced as it
was. shame we didn't get to meet up but we were probably
wobbling around next to each other in the warp tent at some
point, fucked on our respective drugs :)

didn't you think the squarepusher set was a little
self-indulgent? looking around at some points everyone
looked so bored, waiting for his bass wigout to end so we
could all get back to the more important business of raving
it up.

and how awesome was the solar chill garden? those little
amsterdam coffee shop style tables for rolling on, and all
the lights and candles and shit... magic.

on the friday night, did you notice the guy tripping his
arse off by the massive projection screen thing? first he
was just walking up and rubbing his face in it, then he lay
on the ground motionless looking up for about 3 hours whilst
it flapped over his face in the wind.

offline KEYFUMBLER from DUBLIN (Ireland) on 2004-07-20 04:40 [#01281019]

nah...every second of squarepusher blew me away. I was taken
in by the whole experience....... remember "cmon my
selector"? the way he strecthed it out with the live bass...
class.

we discovered the solar chill on the sunday night so all the
music had stopped but the bongos had come out... it was one
of the most amazing amospheres ever i thought, a real
sesorary feast - everyone was soo goddamn nice that night.

i actually rubbed my face on that screen for a while too.
The worst was at one point back in my tent, i got cought in
a sort of memory loop with exptreme feelings of being
mentally trapped for ages. it was kind of cool but scarey
except for Ems talking m out of it. fucking mex's!

It's hard to say really, because ATP is so different every
year... but out of what I've been to, atp2003 and dedbeat
2004, I'd say that atp is the best. They are both sweet as
though.

ATP is less colourfull i think. I mean, Glade is supposed to
be billed as a summer festical and it had all the
ingredients. The concreteness of ATP makes it less summery i
reckon, although musically it depends on yer tastes. ATP
was top-dog last year although i would prefer to see the
same lineup at a Glade-type festival.

of peeps were concerend around us.... she was overcome but
not quite gone. When we moved towards AFX, a gal epilepsied

got trapped into a shroom mindloop for ages. And we both got
the serious giggles back at basecamp! Top notch!
