What are all you music makers' favorite programs from
creating percussive sounds, organic or synthetic sounding?
Or do you mostly sample your drums?

And, either way, what's a recomended sampler and sequencer
(seperate or in one program)? I have Cubase and don't enjoy
using it one bit. See, I've just started to make sounds on
my computer recently...

ya i need some good programs too
i too just started using my computer for music..
started w/ fruity loops.. already a little limiting though
i tryed cubase but its REALLY intimidating!
(i downloaded the manual... 470+ pages!!!!)
anyways.. any programs that are somewhere inbetween?

buzz is quite good in my opinion..

but as for creating drum sounds, i use stomper and
orangator, there's also drumsynth and simsynth which i
haven't tried..

i've used drumsynth, very very precise way to create and
edit packaged drum hits. recommended.

i made my best drum shit with rebirth.

Korben Dallas from _ on 2002-01-16 08:48 [#00070561]

I use cubase, I think its ok. So far I've only used the
inbuilt lm-7 and lm-9 drums, and occasionally import some
loops from rebirth.

I mean there is a lot of stuff I'm not utilizing yet .. but
re: vst it is pretty powerful. Stick at it I would
recommend?

So seeing you have Cubase already - i would recommend a VST
sampler, eg native instruments Battery - or a drum synth
(plenty around) ... ??

thanks yalls... can you import samples into drumsynth?

wizards teeth from egg land on 2002-01-16 11:37 [#00070631]

check put drum synth 5, you can combine wave forms and
samples and modify the amplituded of the waves etc etc

I agree with corben on this one
Stick with Cubase!!!!
I often take some random drum sounds and arrange them before
fucking them up royally with loads of plugins.
I resample the shit and put it back in to rearrange it again
and so on and so on.
In fact thats how i make most of my IDM music.
It's a very powerfull program that might look frightening at
first but is quite simple when you get the hang of it.
+ theres so many free crazy plugins and vst instruments out
there.
Cubase is great if you want to make complex experimental IDM
music.
But get other programs to,Fruityloops for example is great
for making tweaked acid basslines.
And fuck that fat ass manual...use it only when you really
need to know something. : )
