I'm listening to some goodies I just bought, feeling nice
and content then it hit me: There is a mountian of
life-changing music out there that I will never hear.

hmm, not really, really good music is hard to find, most of
it is crap

it makes me sad too... just think of all the insane moments
in music history that we've missed...

haha... it's true - it's actually more optimistic to
realize that most music is crap.

then again, if you think about it in terms of the sheer
quantity of underground music of all genres... obviously
one would never be able to find all the good stuff in a
lifetime.

pseudo-philosophical question: is it good before you find
it?

I mean, yes.

In fact, does it even exist?

Yes, there are things I have not heard which I would love if
i did. Also, there are countless lucious, beautiful,
mentally stable women out there who would make terrific
girlfriends and wives that I will never know...

Have you seen them? With your own eyes?

yeah, you're right, we'll never be able to hear everything,
not even all the good stuff, but... that's weird, it doesn't
make me sad.

after all how can we be sure of anything?
maybe we'll be born again back in time, or be able to
distort time and have access to all the music in the world
through the interconnexion of all human minds living or
deceased, or maybe the world is nothing but a dream and
we'll wake up with all music possible forever, or maybe the
world is just like a flat scenery for a movie: we don't see
the back of this house because it doesn't really exist, it's
just a flat cardboard looking like a house, and so all the
music we don't hear might not exist, it existence being an
illusion... or something... who knows? = )

But being serious for a second, you're right mertens,
there's more information and media than you could experience
in a hundred lifetimes. So don't feel you have to discover
everything.

offline uzim on 2004-07-16 13:07 [#01278203]

anyway, if you had everything, you wouldn't have anything to
want anymore.

wouldn't this be sadder than knowing you still have things
to discover for all your life?

I'm just being greedy:) Anyway, yeah it's probably a good
thing we can't experience and know and learn all there is.
The joy of discovery is one of the greatest feelings in the
world. Up there with total boby orgasms.

maybe the reason there's so much bounce in my nod to this mf
doom business, has a lot to do with when coltrane took no
prisonehs...
